LMU will also host a BracketBuster game in February. The ESPN agreement called for LMU to play one on the road in 2011 (we played Portland State) and to host a Bracketbuster in 2012.

Let's hope this time is a charm for the Lions - we deserve some breaks this season.

Well, I can say fairly confidently, that UCLA, Florida State and North Texas will all be tourney bound, plus Gonzaga, BYU and maybe St. Mary's...LMU's strength of schedule should be fairly decent. If LMU had an improbable season...nothing could be blamed on the scheduling. Hopefully Drew Viney, Ashley Hamilton, and Edgar Garibay are all equally taking this offseason seriously to get better, in shape and healthy. Of everybody on our roster, those three have the potential to play professional basketball somewhere down the line, if they take the opportunity.

agree with drew and ashley. edgar has been a disappointment thus far. he seems unmotivated and extremely unathletic

The important thing that should come to mind with these three players is that they are our best 3 post players. I can't stress enough how our team would win more games, and each of these three players could be all wcc first team if we could just get the ball inside. Having no coherent offense we rarely see the ball enter the post, especially with these three players at any consistent rate. They don't need a lot more shots so much as they need a lot more touches inside.
I can't say how high I am on Drew and Ashley's footwork and composure inside. Drew doesn't look like an interior player (definitely gained a bit more physically in his second year at LMU) but he is our best rebounder and all around a glue player inside. Having him at the 3 is a big plus for our size, but at the same time we rarely have the offensive spacing to get the ball inside and moving with him at the 3 because our other post players either don't step up, we aren't spaced right, or we can't get the ball to the right players.
These problems have to be remedied. Ashley needs to get the ball inside, a lot. We need a purposeful offense that moves the ball.
I think Jkclion's take on Edgar is a bit offbase, but I share the frustration, I think he does as well.
To say he's unmotivated doesn't really even take into account what you see in the camera or in person. He seems genuinely motivated, and frustrated with the injuries. I think I see hope in him based off of what I saw in his freshman year. He NEVER looked right this year, and i think some of that was not being 100%, and then a lot of mental reservations and timidity on the floor coupled with us not getting him consistent touches to where he could even get in a rhythm. In his freshman year he was our best rebounder when he went down (better than drew), and he showed size. He went up against some pretty solid competition considering he was a freshman, and held his own. I felt like he had some decent moves inside, a midrange shot, and a nice hook going for him. He didn't blow me away, but for a guy his size having that much of a grasp of the basics of bigman basketball (and doing it as a freshman) I was sold. Never saw him show much in his partial season this year, glimpses but nothing big.
Let's hope he recovers 100%, and is able to get in a good place mentally on the court. I think we'd see a very different player.

Looks like we've got some marquee games that could get us some attention is all goes well.

uncurselmu has a good argument. lets just say at this point i am thoroughly impressed with ashleys motor, drive, and physicality. drew is a smooth shooter. edgar needs to have a bit of a nasty streak in order to get to the next level.
