Just a few things that stood out to me.
Timmy D- I love his intensity and toughness. I think him and Garibay provide us with two great options in the post.
Ashley- Clearly a starter in my book now. His strength and speed really stood out. He made 7 straight free throws on shots he was fouled on.
Given- I know he was a big banged up. I like his shooting touch. If he can work on his handles he will give us some great minutes.
Alex- Really did a great job. Got rebounds hit some shots. I was very impressed.
Teel- Despite his turn overs and free throws he will be hard to keep off the floor. He is a scoring machine that refuses to lose.
Drew- You could see the talent he has- I think as he works on spacing and moving without the ball he will get even better.
Kevin- didn't really see the energy I have seen him with in pick up games.
Walk-ons- We have TOO many!
Over all with Larry, Edgar, and JD sitting out it was great to see how deep we are.
My starting five now:
PG- JD SG-Teel until Larry comes back. SF- Viney PF- Hamilton C- Garibay

FULLY agree on the starting 5. Seems to me like Kevin Young should be used as a spark off the bench with his steals and length, kinda like how the Lakers used Trevor Ariza last year off the bench. It concerns me that Teel hasn't improved his free throws.

Alex did more in one game that Sutton did at his whole career at LMU.

HEY IRON LIONS SLOW DOWN. .I like the kid osbourne . He played good ball saturday.I just like to see or big men pick it up intensity wise and be more aggressive.I liked when T.Diederichs dunked and showed some swagger and intensity like playing for lmu is a privilege and honor.YOU have to play with some type of energy and urgency!! and show you are ready to go up against the best the wcc has to offer.THE team seems to have improved.HAMILTON,ARMSTEAD,SWEEZY,TEEL VINEY,LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE SPENT TIME IN THE WEIGHT ROOM.OVER THIS PASS SUMMER(K.YOUNG NEEDS TO HIT THE WEIGHTS REAL BAD DID NOT NOTICE ANY GAIN IN THAT AREA ON HIM) ..OR team looks to be real fast and athletic and plays nice man 2 man defense(especially the kid armstead he looked real tough and solid on perimeter defense) ;D.Teel was excellent offense ball control and scoring .(HEY V.TEEL HERE IS A GOOD IDEA!!!TRY AND GET YOUR OTHER TEAMMATES INVOLVED OR AT LEAST LET THEM TOUCH THE BALL OR SMELL IT .IT'S A KNEW DAY AT LMU AND YOU HAVE DECENT HELP ;D ;D) Can't wait to see the kid davis play with gariby, viney, hamilton and teel(my starting 5 we will be just fine .Plus the 3 freshman(jarred, laron and kevin coming off the bench with osbourne and diederichs) we will be fighting for a top 4 spot in the wcc.I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MORE THOUGHTS ABOUT SATURDAY'S SCRIMMAGE.And will L.DAVIS,J.DUBOIS,E.GARIBY play on the 4th of November. These guy's are starter's for sure.(2 for sure starters)We have a ten deep rotation going on here .And only one direction to go ;D so see you all Nov.the 4th

You guys are building up my expectations for Garibay - if he starts ahead of Tim at center, he must have some skills. JD will start at guard and do a lot of ball handling - Teel has slipped back to his one-man-show role that he almost lost by the end of last season. He is scoring guard, I trust JD more with the ball to get others involved. Davis is probably better than most so I can't wait to see him play and start if healthy.

We actually have a pretty decent size team. Don't know where your stats are coming from but Ashley, Viney and Sweezy are all in the 6'7 to 6'8 range. We may not have any 7 footers, but we are loaded in the upper 6 foot range.
also, Your starting 5 is leaving out JD - which is just not going to happen. Good is blowing him up in every interview and article. No way he doesn't start. And IMHO Tim starts over Edgar. He has the experience and is BBall IQ is more developed at this point. Edgar will get there, but he needs some seasoning before he starts a game.
If everyone is healthy, I have JD, Larry, Vernon, Drew and Tim. This five can score at all five positions, two strong rebounders in Viney and Diedrichs, great ball handling in your two guard spots, and super, super competitive.

Good discussion but a strong suggestion lmumbballfan, do not write posts in all caps. Please give your caps lock a break. It makes your posts harder to read and it's not good internet etiquette (it is considered yelling).

Interesting opinion irishlion - you suggest a three guard offense to start and I had not considered this. I agree JD will start and probably Davis at the second guard spot when healthy. Depending on the opponent, Teel could start as well against smaller teams, otherwise, I see Hamilton starting with Tim and Viney. One caveat, Coach Good may start Young over Hamilton at the beginning of the season based on last year's performance and let Ashley work his way into the starting lineup - which will happen in short order IMHO unless Kevin picks up his offense from what we saw in scrimmage. We should remember Kevin came with an ESPN scouts rating of 67, which is mediocre. He did his job last year out of necessity and performed well but inconsistently on offense. His best skills are rebounding and defense - nothing to scoff about. In any case, it will be an interesting season! I don't think this team will let us down. Hopefully, we see more of the players in action on Nov 4 and then we can form a better informed opinion on starters. Would be very happy if Garibay can outperform Tim D. in his first season. And fanblade - as always - the voice of reason! If only we could see ourselves as others do!

lmumbbfan - Nice to hear you have seen Garibay play - I am still waiting to see what he has in action on the court. He seems focused in the one practice I observed but was nursing his bruised heel, and did not participate in scrimmage. I will be cool if he has the skills and maturity to start this year. Thanks for your comments! NOTICE NO CAPS LOCK IN MY COMMENTS!!!!!
