The sad but true fact is that most students at LMU think of our basketball team as a complete joke. When I try to get others to go to the games, they laugh at me. When I try to tell them that the team is better this year, they say "But we hear that every year". Until the team starts winning on a more consistent basis, the students will find better ways to spend their time.

Our fans have become accustomed to losing like the New Orleans Saints ("Ain'ts") of years past. Hopefully in a couple years LMU will have a season like the NO Saints are having this year. *Crosses Fingers* P.S. Julia is great at her job.

fanblade - i am kinda disappointed in you because we did have some students come out....there were a small contingent of people but it was at least more than 1 or 2 it was more like 10 or 20.....give us a break at least some of us made an effort!

Possibly the drunk and irate UCSB fan screaming in my ear had me confused. Or I am suffering from on-set dementia but I could swear at the start of the game I spied one brave soul manning the Roar section. It did grow in size later on, yes, I'll give you that . But I also spied plenty of young alumni joining the fray a few minutes in to help bolster those numbers I'm not trying to poo-poo those that did show support (God love them) or even claim I was expecting a standing room only night. Just stating what I had noticed. That the gametime environment was pretty dismal. Comparable to a early afternoon showdown during Winter Break. Kind of sad. UCI loss may have hurt. DII A of A unsurprisingly won't bring fans clamoring. Just an observation I made. I really hope that things will turnaround attendance and involvement wise for Montana. A very big game for us.

Indeed, there was one student in the ROAR section at the start; he was wearing a sport coat and was the object of the loud UCSB heckler's abuse.

I have no complaint about what she is saying. Add to her comments about turnovers down the stretch, our inability - the entire game - to get a defensive stop - and she is spot on. At least this time.
Put the smart players on the court. Put the defending, rebounding players on the court. Get the ball into the right players hands at the right time. And watch the wins roll in.

Pretty spot on article, however, I think our bigger problem is our defense durning the whole game.

Fantastic article - I hear she blogs under the pen name of wrschnicke! If not, I could not have said it better! All her points are right on but to sum it up we need to learn to win as a team. All our guys come from winning HS programs and need to learn how to close as a team at this level of play. I share her particular view that Vernon, as many assists per game as he has, is not the right guy for PG - he is really out of his element here. He is a scoring machine and needs to be released to unleash his true talents. I like her suggestion that Kalipinde needs more minutes. Juila Pine is right on - hope she finds a good home in this media-challenged world?

Her article couldn't have been more spot on tonight, unfortunately.
