We have had the closes losses. We know our strengths and our weaknesses. We know what we have to do and what to avoid to win games. We know that we can beat a team like ND on the road. I say this is a turning point where can't take any more steps back and only progress forward. Looking at the next 8 opponetes I saw we need to win a vast majortiy of the next 8 games... like 8 of them.
Go Lion go!

Hopefully the team responds and builds off this because we could easily go on a winning streak. Bakersfield is on par with North Dakota a team we manhandled. Notre Dame beat Long Beach by 20pts. Sacramento St and Seattle are not powerhouses. Pepperdine lost to Cal Baptist and is ruins. Santa Clara is beatable.
Don't want to get my hopes up too much because we still need to work on our 'D' but we've got the guns to do it.

Key is making the most of our true Freshmen - AO, Given and Ashley - they are contributing big time and will only get better. And having the veterans lead the charge - Vernon, Drew, Larry, JD and KY. And use key bench players at the right times. Gee whiz, we do have the talent this year to make some noise, especially in the next 8 games. And with confidence from those wins, who knows what our limits are this season?

Dont mean to be so nit picky but Hamilton is not a true freshman. He redshirted last year. Good to see him back in the rotation though! The ND win is definitely one to build on. I believe it was that close win I talked about the Lions needing to get in order to break through.

Thanks Zags for keeping me honest - Ashley is indeed a RS FR. You guys in England are sticklers for the right phrase. You get the main thought though.

What concerns me is what Vernon Teel said in a previous LMU Weekly. That the team "gets up" for big games. That is not the sort of attitude we need a this point. We need to "get up" for ALL games because we have not proven ourselves yet. A win over USC and UND are fantastic but until we can take care of business against mediocre to bad teams especially at home we are not ready for primetime.

Fanblade, a lot of athletes say things like that. I think if a player says they don't get more hyped up for the big games, they are not being honest. Speaking for myself, I know this was always the case for me. That doesn't mean against the mediocre teams they aren't pumped. The next games before conference will tell though. Hopefully LMU can take care of business and win the games they should.

Here is where good coaches can make a difference by making sure the team is ready to play every game, especially against mediocre teams. Let's see how Max and the crew can build on the ND win to keep it going.

Everybody gets hyped up for the big games/teams. But the team needs to forget about that win and play as well as they did against ND, for the rest of the season. Sat will be a test, Bake isn't a good team, if LMU lays an egg vs Bake, the ND win is now meaningless.
It will be a test for the players and coaches to work harder preparing for the Bake game. Will they be up for it?

Fascinating link Fanblade. KenPom has Drew Viney's height correct so his credibility goes up in my book. Notice that Kevin Young is shooting 64% from the field, 78th in the nation. He predicts some nice winning margins also - those would be nice to see. I don't like losing our final 4 games however - that would be a downer. Let's do something about that!

Great link.
My favorite part is where it lists our players by their contributions and Tim Diedrichs is listed as Nearly Invisible. haha Classic.
