Haha the benches aren't on the baselines at Duke. They are at Vandy though.

"I would hate to have something as huge as Jenny Craig (HAH), making the emptiness so apparent."
How funny is it that Jenny Craig is their sponsor? I would sure as he#$ hope the powers that be at LMU wouldn't accept the almighty dollar for something equally as ludicrous.
Down here in SoFL, they recently re-named Dolphins Stadium "Landshark" Stadium, after that swill-tasting beer. I suppose no community or level of competition is immune.

The Levy Center of 1995 isn't the same Levy Center of 2010. Name maybe the same, but the actual arena is totally different.

Well like previous posts have mentioned I heard of ADG trying to donate a lot of money to put their name on something. I was talking to some alums in the organization about it, I however am not part of it so maybe somebody alittle more connected can give us some more info because I heard them trying to get all of gersten renamed not just the annex

Leavey used to have an inflatable roof. The whole arena was essentially gutted and rebuilt.

Before renovation, Santa Clara's Leavey Center was called Toso Pavilion and it had an air supported roof. When you walked in the fans blew at you. It is where the first couple of then WCAC Tournaments were held - the original sponser of which was PowerBar.

Jenny Craig is into "slimness" - no (diets etc)? Perhaps that is why the crowds appear so slim in her arena - a testament to her philosophy?

Residents are already in a lather over the Master Plan according to the Argonaut. Next meeting is tomorrow over it. I hope they build a Galen Center Size monstrosity right next to McConnell Ave. Oopsie just joking.

I swear, the residents that complain about LMU expansion seem to forget the fact that the higher property values and lower crime they enjoy are directly related to their proximity to a university that was in place long before their homes were even built. The proverbial "having their cake and eating it too" mentality.

I dont think we necessarily need a new arena...I would like to see the seating rearranged though. Can we put seats behind the each basket? I dont know if thats possible but I dont like seeing our tiny little band behind the basket with nobody there its not imposing. The problem is that there is not much room behind those baskets.

The proverbial "having their cake and eating it too" mentality. Yes....but then again, what kind of community surrounded us? Rich, snobby people who get their way and probably donate a certain amount of money to the school each year...

The proverbial "having their cake and eating it too" mentality. The “here first” argument doesn’t hold so much holy water, just ask a member of the Tongva tribe how that plays out. Never-the-less, tear down Gersten and in its place reconstitute Alumni Gym, hire Go-Go dancers, pipe in some Polkacide or Project Pimento (because nothing beats an accordion or a theremin), erect a bronze bust of Jim McCloskey in the foyer and you’re set, or at least I’m set.
