Its too bad KY will be taking his high energy rebounds and dunks (with the Afro check ) somewhere else. I had heard rumors of this happening, but I'm not complete surprised. There was times KY just looked like he was in misery when he had to sit on the bench. KY seems to be a high energy high emotion guy that ultimate didn't seem to mesh with Coach Good's style.
I wish him the very best and will continue to follow his carrier.

That's a downer for me. Poker is a Kevin Young type with a better all around game. As we continue to improve, these tyes of changes are more likely io occur.

On the bright side:
According to Good and Scholl, the coaching staff is not through recruiting for next season. With the excitement that Young has helped create over the past two seasons, higher caliber basketball players are now considering LMU, something that wasn't happening one year ago.

This is a very bad decison by KY. He already is /was a starter for an up and coming program at a first rate University. Now he will have to go to a lesser school with a lesser program. For what?? A bigger role in a lesser program and a lesser education?
He's apparently hanging out with people who have no clue. But he is responsible for this, alone. I can't immagine his parents being happy about this. They seemed to love LMU. When KY was dorm president his freshman year I thought this kid just found paradise.
As for LMU, we have instant replacements at the 4 in Hamilton and Osborn and maybe Godwin. But KY was special and would have gotten significant playing time despite the other talent at the position. and he can easly play a 3 with Viney and Quincy in rotation.
Too bad!

I know!
KY was really popular on campus. I really don't understand this decision either. KY's family was always at games and I sure they will want see him play at his new school. Where can he go locally...everything seems to be a step down!
I hope we get some good recruiting news soon.

Personally I don't think its that big of a loss for the team. KY to me always seemed lost on offense. Sure he had some nice individual plays, could sky, but he was too thin to bang, and not a good enough creator and shooter to play on the outside. I always felt KY was going to eventually be the odd one left out when Garibay got healthy. You had Viney at the 3, Hamilton at the 4 Garibay at the 5. Lawson is ready to go next year, Ayodeji looks to be the real deal, and Armstead has a little game too. I'm not crying about this loss. The kid was 6'9 was not a very great defender, couldnt rebound too well for his height and athleticism, and seemed from the outside to be a very emotional player (which never bodes well for a player). While he might have been a fan favorite for the little kids, I think LMU basketball will be just fine.
Best of luck in the future KY and thank you for the contributions you have made to LMU basketball. Good Riddance. Now let's get another stud recruit.

I loved that guy. This really makes me sad.
I could see the anger on his face near the end of the season. He just seemed to stop enjoying playing and I was afraid this might happen. I have no idea how it all went bad - what didn't mesh with him and the staff - but I really wish this wasn't the case.
Good Luck KY - you are one of the good ones!

zagsfan - you make some good points but rebounding? KY set the freshman rebound record for all time at LMU. That's pretty good rebounding. Caveat, I admit we had no depth that year - his first - so he and the other starters got an abnormal number of minutes each game - this may have been a factor but the kid can still leap with the best.

Wrshnicke, KY like you said logged way more minutes than the usual freshman at LMU because the team was so bad that year. Not many freshman have played that many minutes in a long while. I witnessed many times this year KY getting used and abused physically in the post this year. Maybe his position was the three, but we have enough people to fill that spot. We will be fine

Well this is a crummy time to make my first post. I'll say hi some other time. But I was just checking emails and heard this rumble. How awful.
KY's first time suiting up for the Lions resulted in a double double in the FIRST HALF if I can remember correctly. Then he went scoreless and maybe even reboundless in the 2nd half of that scrimmage. It was a flash of things to come.
But KY was one of the few bright spots 2 years ago and continued to make some awesome plays this year. Furthermore, he seemed to be the most beloved person on campus.
I think this is a huge loss for our team, but moreso for our community. What a bummer.
