But the close game with Pacific gives me pause. I don’t see a lot of offense from the Mustangs and we have the size and talent to match up nicely. Should be a walk over at Gersten for the Lions but we cannot afford to be comfortable in any game; I expect a double digit win based on what I know today. Gametime: Tuesday, Dec 17, 7 pm at Gersten. I don't know. Only lost by 11 to Arizona, 2 to Nevada and 2 to Pacific. I think the game is "winnable" but a walk over?

One of the positives of this season, as someone else noted in another string, is that so far the Lions have won all the games that they should have won. However, they haven't yet won any games against better ranked or appreciated teams. No "signature" or "good" non-conference wins in the bubble parlance.
Valpo, particularly on the road, presents another "signature/good" win prospect. Sagarin's overall Valpo rating as of today is 102; LMU's is 190. Sagarin's Predictor Rating (which I've noted closely matches the betting opening lines) adjusted for Valpo's home court predicts a Valpo 10.5 victory.
Cal Poly's Sagarin overall rating is 138 (Note, Long Beach's is 232) and the Predictor Rating today adjusted with LMU's home court predicts a virtual tie - LMU 71.31 + 3.77 (Home Court Adjustment) + 75.08; Cal Poly 74.94. Certainly no "walk-over."
By the way, until LMU achieves a signature win and continues to avoid a bad loss, the only "walk-over" on the schedule is La Sierra.

Cal Poly warmed up for the Lions' game by trouncing Cal State Dominguez Hills 85-49 in San Luis Obispo. Is Dominguez that bad, or Poly that good? Four players scored in double figures for the Mustangs. No cake walk on Tuesday I guess.

Basically a toss up, eh? The Lions need to play well to win tomorrow. I think our guys in the paint will have an easier time on offense (I can hope can't I?). Go Lions!

Our guys in the paint better have an easier time against Cal Poly.
The last spate of losses showed that we aren't quite ready to make noise at the national level. I think tomorrow's game will serve as a gauge of where we will fit into the WCC this year. A loss puts us down with Santa Clara and Pepperdine. A close game probably puts us with USF, Portland and maybe San Diego. A solid win might show that we have the wherewithal to play competitively with the top division.
If Ben can't have a significant game against Cal Poly, I'm not sure how he's going to compete against Waldow, Karnowski, Dower, Mika, et al.

Finally our guys are home. Can you believe on Dec 17, its only the second home game of the season? Let's hope the home beds and cooking play their role tonight.

Lions playing good defense but sloppy passes are keeping the Mustangs in the game. Video is back here also for now.

We started so well with our depth helping a lot but let the Mustangs hang on by half. Sluggish play with Ireland on the bench really did not help. Go Lions - we need to win this one convincingly!
