Here is the breakdown
Godwin- out for year. Will get medical red-shirt. Deji - will require surgery. Likely to miss rest of season. Nino- rehabbing ankle. Out indefinitely Gabe - day to day. I think he will play vs BYU
I feel bad for Deji - he has some sort of injury every single year.

Is this the career for Deji or is there a chance for a red shirt? If RS, would we have a scholly? We're missing a lot of talent with that list.

What a shame for Deji! Between be the car accident and the injury, Deji had a terrible last few months.
If his career is over, that really is a tough loss for the Lions. As well as we played today, Deji will be sorely missed. Good luck, Deji...I hope you can make it back!

How bad is Nino hurt? Will we see him again this year?
Supposedly he was the best freshman coming in!!

If Deji's injury is in fact a season ending one, it seems that he might be able to qualify for a medical redshirt if he wants to. From what I read, to qualify, the athlete has to appear in fewer than 30% of the team's contests and the injury has to occur during the first half of the year. Deji only played in the first 8 games so seems that he meets the requirement. I am sure it's more complicated but, if he qualifies and wants to do a year of graduate work, we'd love to have him back!

The school also has to worry about the number of available scholarships. Max has recruited based upon a projected number of available scholarship openings. An unexpected redshirt year can impact that projection.

Déjà vu? (Or Deji vu?) I have been adamantly following college basketball since 1983 and never run across a program that seems to have as much problem with injury as LMU. What is the deal here? It does seem like LMU is always hit with a disproportionate amount of "critical injuries" that other teams do not seem to face season after season. Or maybe it is just a matter of perspective because this is the closest college hoops team I follow. Something still seems off. Is it our stregnth & conditioning? Practice routines? Player rotations? Hmm.

The nature of the injuries don't have much to do with strength/conditiong etc. Godwin was hurt in a car accident. Nino came down on a ball during warm ups and broke his ankle. Deji went up way high in traffic and came down in a heap after getting knocked off balance in the air. All are flukes. We need to burn sage to get rid of this curse.

Chase is one tough guy, but when I saw the look on his face when he went down it was certainly haunting...he was in a lot of pain. I think he will be done for the season.

That would be a shame, but yes, the groaning was what I'll remember. At first I was thinking ribs, but the way he was slouched over and his arm was hanging, I wonder if he dislocated his shoulder.
He really is tough, that was a direct hit from a big guy in Levin. First the knee injury in the last minute of a blowout at BYU game last year, and then this in the last minute of a double-digit deficit to Portland. Too bad for Chase's case the games are not 39 minutes.
More Max Heller? Or Stover at the 3? Either way, we need someone to step up as the backup guard.

Bummer. Get well, Chase. We will need you at full strength next year.
