Any updates on how he has been looking? Is he practicing with the team?
For a guy that was hailed as LMU's best recruit since Hank Gathers you would think there would be more talk about him...
Is he ready to step in as the starting 5 man next year for LMU? Hopefully he has been hitting the weight room and getting bigger, as well as working on his post moves. Would be great if he is as advertised and we could have a 4/5 of Levin/Siame for years to come.

fryer - you frightened me with your post - I thought you might have some bad news about Patson. I don't know much, but I would guess its too early to make any judgements on Patson's physique and play next year. Young men develop quickly at his age. Maybe someone with more insight can add to the discussion. Re practicing, I believe Redshirts do practice with the team so he should be learning the system and a few D1 pointers. He is "occupying" a Lions scholarship so is part of the team.

when i was at the LMU/NAU game at the beginning of the season,I saw Patson at the end of the bench and his arm was in a sling. I think someone on this board or coach Good may have referenced him having some type of clean up on shoulder or arm. So during the nov thru dec period, i am not sure he did much practicing with the team. I don't have any inside knowledge so i don't have any details as to what the issue was, and where he is in his rehab and recovery.

During the LMU v Santa Clara game, I heard an announcer say that he had a shoulder injury and that he had surgery. Not sure if that's true. Possible cause for redshirting.

He was already redshirting due to academic issues...

Anyone have any update on this guy?
When did he actually stop practicing because of injury? When and what type of surgery? Where is he in the rehab process? I'm just wondering if this is a redshirt year where he ended up getting no experience/ time to get stronger and better beyond watching the game from the bench.
We have a solid squad together but we badly need some size. Godfrey and Wyatt aren't capable of playing center and I wouldn't want to rely on Okonji suddenly breaking through.

Good questions uncurse. Who knows? Practices were closed to the "public" (fans). So far, it seems he is staying with the team, which is good. Ironlion is your best bet for insider updates if they are not too sensitive. I welcome Patson to out lineup and am optimistic about his development as a full player under this new crew.

As an alum I am happy to see someone taken from a faraway town in Africa and brought to get a high quality university education that LMU offers. It's also great to see that while he was probably academically unable to be eligible for the NCAA, he's been hitting the books and I'm going to assume gathering credit and really making a move here over the past two school years.
That being said, where the heck is this guy? I've done a little creepy investigative research and see that he had some kind of leg surgery recently? Does anybody see him around campus and can tell us how he's doing?
Also, I'm going to assume that with the semester coming to a close in a few weeks there is still a lot up in the air. I'm just saying that I'd love to see him play. He's sort of fallen off our radar. This guy was supposed to be a program-changer according to the earlier reports. of course, now he'll be like 21 years old and who knows if he's already maxed out his potential.
Either way, I'd love to see him play on the squad, and with Mike Dunlap's coaching, I could see him becoming a very good defensive player if he wants to be. In fact, he if he build his body, and be very active on the boards and on the defensive end, he can eventually take Robert Sacre's (and Ronny Turiaf's) spot on the Lakers as the 3rd center. I'm not kidding about that either. Gersten is where Kupchak looks for his late 2nd round picks on those random stay-at home Saturday nights in Marina Del Rey. i wish that was plugged more in the recruiting process.

Back In January I was told Siame was progressing nicely from the shoulder clean-up surgery.
I thought it was encouraging that he was on the bench for most, if not all, the home games. He also seemed to have good interaction with his teammates.
Hadn't heard anything about leg surgery...maybe they were being proactive and getting him cleaned up now prior to his eligibility kicking in next year. If I recall, he was at Dunlap's press conference. As long as his academics are fine, I would think he could play a substantial role as our second big behind Godwin.
Great point about Kupchak, too, slblions08. It has been awhile, but LMU used to host the summer league, and LMU still has NBA players come on campus during the summer and scrimmage (love the Jarron Collins story, told on air at least twice, regarding Evan Payne attempting to dunk over JaVale McGee last summer). Let's hope Dunlap, et al, remind recruits of this.

Julia Pine reports that he's being released from his scholarship.

Looks like Siame is number 2. Any bets on who's next?

Wow! So Petr is our center? More sad news but if Dunlap can recruit some top players perhaps the season can go OK? I guess news on Mornar is next? Pretty much a clean sweep if so. Iron's forecast is proving right - "wait until he (Dunlap) has no players next year" (liberal quote).

I think stating speculation about who has been given a release as a fact is reckless and inappropriate. The only report from Julia Pine that I've seen is a tweet from a day ago saying that she is "Hearing from multiple sources Dunlap has released two other scholarship players in addition to Evan Payne. One being Patson Siame." I'm pretty confident that if Patson had, in fact, been released a day ago there would have been verified media reports on that by now just like there was on Evan. The fact there hasn't been suggests to me that the players said to be released are likely players of perceived lesser ability and media following. But, the identities of who the players are should await actual confirmation. Spouting speculation as fact is simply wrong.

That is different than what I heard. But if Patson does leave, watch where he goes and that will tell you everything you need to know.
