Let's make em count. Keeping Stewart is key. If we keep him, we get better recruits because better players will want to play with him. First up, let's get a point guard. Hopefully Jackie Davis works out. I like his size and the fact he has grown a lot recently. We haven't really seen what he is capable of yet.

thx - your list of players was correct but not your math. We have 11 players returning and we can carry 14 on scholarship - hence 3 slots open per fryer.
Iron - thanks for the insider comments - I won't miss Ben given his history at LMU but I was looking forward to his arrival before the season began.

D-1 teams are allowed 13 scholarships for men's teams and 15 for women's teams. If Godfrey is not coming, we have two positions open. When Coach Dunlap presented at the Lions Fund event last week, he talked in terms of 1 open scholarship. Perhaps he was counting Godfrey as coming? Do we know for sure he is not?
We are all hoping Stewart elects to retain his commitment. I think the low turnover of existing players should help. It's also obvious that Dunlap's priority needs to be a point guard.

Is Wyatt still coming? Back when Wyatt committed, on October 2, this is what Fran Fraschilla tweeted: ## Fran Fraschilla @franfraschilla Oct 2 @tomabatemarco1 does it again. DeSoto's 6-8 Devin Wyatt commits to LMU. Huge upside at WCC level. Alphabet Man got Roberson to CU, too. ## If Wyatt is anything like Roberson, I am sure Dunlap is trying to keep him. Also found this story, trumpeting the fact Wyatt's team went to the Texas Final Four. He plays defense! We could use that. www.wfaa.com/sports/high-school/DeSotos-defense-helps-team-earn-trip-to-Final-Four-248677631.html

You do know Franschilla was basically Abatemarco's agent right? They were very close and everything Fran tweeted had to do with "the alphabet man". Wyatt is not really anything like Roberson. He will be an impact player on the defensive end which would really help but his offensive game is super limited. With that said, i really hope he comes.

We've had a pathetic interior defense for a while, and between Wyatt and Siame we would have some serious shotblocking that we haven't had in at least 10 years.
Dickenson was such a disappointment. Sad we had to waste two years of a scholarship on him. The guy had an absolutely pathetic vertical.

Wyatt, Siame, Okonji interior Defense could be special next year.
Do we have the scorers though?

Wyatt, Siame, Okonji interior Defense could be special next year. Do we have the scorers though? I think we can rely on Evan Payne to carry the scoring load. He shot great percentage for a freshman IMO (fg-44%, 3pt-35%, ft 84%) and he should be able to score in the neighborhood of 17-20ppg. He'll undoubtedly face increased pressure w/ AI gone but I feel like he was able to create his own looks and won't miss him too terribly. Levin is the big question ]. If he bulks up and refines his jumpshot there's no reason to think he can't put up 13-15ppg and close to 10 boards. He will decide his fate. If he puts in serious work this summer he could be special, if not we're in serious trouble. He's shown a great motor and some serious heart, I have faith in him more than any other player putting the necessary time this summer. Egbeyemi's probably our best 3pt shooter as of now, and could be our third scorer. But really, him, stover, blackwell are somewhat of a crapshoot. They all have shown flashes of being that third option but have epitomized streakiness. Mornar is a darkhorse. He needs to put on a good deal of weight, but could end up being highly disruptive as a small forward even if he doesn't. If we're going to be pressing I like the idea of Mornar at the 3. He, like three guy's mentioned above needs to play confidently if he's going to do much offensively. You're right though, as of now we have one guaranteed scorer, and two players with upside to be a scorer. Jackie Davis is an even more important pickup now.

If somehow we could get a 5th year senior that becomes available that can score I would be in heaven.
Lets hope Elijah comes as well. I think its realistic to expect 5-8 ppg from him if he does.
