Any rumors about new players signing to LMU? Iron? Waterboy - if you are still here? Anyone?
I have faith that Dunlap will pull a few rabbits out of his hat (and his assistants' hats).

6'8'' PF Devenir Duruisseau from Palmdale just decommitted from San Jose State after committing 2 weeks ago. We had offered previously. Hope we are still in the mix.

In LMU's in-house online magazine (magazine.lmu.edu) published today Dunlap said some announcements will be coming soon.

Devinir Derousseau
6-8, 225 | Class of 2014• HometownSylmar, Calif. • SchoolSylmar High School • PositionPower Forward • Status Undeclared Scout Grade 69 (2-Star) 81 POSITION 55 REGIONAL 35 STATE Scouting ReportESPN Analyst Updated 04/18/2014 Strengths:Derousseau has the frame, hands, and feet to be a solid Division 1 prospect. He is playing with more purpose in mind as well as with more efficiency. He has the frame (broad shoulders/long arms) to hold position deep in the post and the soft touch to convert buckets. He can even step out and drop in a 3-point shot on occasion. Weaknesses:Derousseau is still quite raw in terms of fundamentals and savvy. While posting up keeping the ball high and having his head on a swivel (reading the defense ) will elevate his game. Making a swift powerful move (utilizing his strong frame) will help him become more productive. He needs to work on finishing through contact and becoming more productive in the areas of rebounding and defending the post. Bottom Line:Overall, with more assertiveness at both ends and fundamental development (pivot work), his upside is quite good. insider.espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/evaluation/_/id/168239/devinir-derousseauI like this young man's size - he looks like a player that a good coach can develop into a solid D1 Power Forward.

Quote from longtime's reference re Dunlap:
"Any news you can share regarding new faces on the team?
NCAA rules are in play here, but we will have a couple announcements coming soon. All roads lead through recruiting — not only for 2014, but 2015 and 2016."
Seems the coaches are looking beyond the current year as regards recruiting.

Great thread, 90045. I came across a few interesting players the past few days. Cole Huff This one is unique, in that LMU is one of five schools that were just added to Cole Huff's transfer list. Huff is 6-foot, 8-inch, 205 pounds from Campbell Hall in North Hollywood. According to his bio originally chose Nevada over "LMU, Pepperdine, UCI, UCR, UTEP, and Denver" and averaged 12.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and made 56 three-pointers while starting all 32 games for Nevada as a sophomore this past season. He would have to sit out a year. collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/17/former-nevada-forward-cole-huff-free-to-transfer-to-non-mountain-west-schools-in-southern-california/Byron Wesley This one may be a bit more of a reach, but Wesley was USC's leading scorer last year. He is graduating in a few months and is leaving USC and will be eligible to play immediately. Last year Wesley averaged 17.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 35 minutes per game last year as a junior. He attended Etiwanda HS and was ranked as the number-1 player in the state by one publication when he was in high school. If he was that highly-sought, maybe Dunlap tried recruiting him to St. John's (or Oregon) when Wesley was in high school. Maybe Dunlap's NBA influence could come into play with Wesley...a kid trying to make it to the next level, Dunlap could even offer him the ability to play point, which could enhance his overall resumé. collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/16/usc-guard-byron-wesley-to-transfer-for-final-season-of-eligibility/

I like Huff. A 6'8 guy who can shoot 3's at a 40% rate? Seems like he would be high-major kid, but the fact that he was initially interested in LMU gives us a shot. He could be a legit star here and combine him with 2 years of Payne, Levin and Siame, and we would be an NCAA team. Wishful thinking huh? I really want him. Hopefully this is some of the news we hear about. Considering he has a few restrictions I would think it is either us, UCLA or USC.
Wesley would be great too.
Excited to see what happens next.

San Jose State facing APR sanctions...won't be allowed Postseason next year, including Mountain West tournament. Lots at play here, but if Lions are still interested, than its not an academics issues, but maybe he wants to be around a better situation. In article from the Spartans site, it says that he is interested in majoring in communications or engineering. So maybe there's some brain up there and he wants a better education? Come to LMU kid. www.sjsuspartans.com/genrel/040114aaa.html

Basically, the Western Front is still quiet - I did not expect news over the Easter weekend but the next week and the one thereafter may shed some light on our future program.

In case you don't have access to ESPN Insider reviews:
Brady Twombly
6-5, 200 | Class of 2015
• Hometown: Carlsbad, Calif. • School: La Costa Canyon High School • Position: Small Forward • Status: Undeclared
Scout Grade 61 - #77 at Position, #105 Regional, #78 State
Scouting Report
ESPN Analyst Updated 02/10/2014
Strengths: Simply put, Twombly is a beast. He plays the game with maximum energy at both ends. Whether it's attacking the rim and finishing through contact or getting a chase-down block, Twombly is about winning basketball. He can fill the lane in transition and knock down the 3-point shot or utilize the pump-fake and take it hard to the hole.
Weaknesses: Twombly needs to continue to improve his ball handling while under pressure. In addition, his jump shot is decent, but it will need to get more consistent going forward.
Bottom Line: Twombly is physically strong already, thus it will be interesting to see where his frame goes in terms of a position at the next level.
I like what I read of his playing style. His size (6'5") does make him a bit of a "tweener" ala CJ at SF.
It just dawned on me that Twombly has another year to grow in the high school ranks - this recruit is for next year.

This recent note is from ESPN also - has Twombly as bigger than his scouting report: "Most Improved Brady Twombly 2015, SF, 6-6, 215 pounds Status: Boise State, Portland, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara, Rice, Southern Utah, Wyoming and Seattle are involved. Twombly has become more lean and, as a result, has become more mobile and productive. The power wing-type can stroke jump shots or attack the basket with some ferocity.
