Lakers played their first game in Vegas. Lost by 10. Anthony did not play. Clarkson got all the good vibes. Interestingly, Kendall Marshall was minus 15 in the +/- stat. He's they guy the Lakers keep touting! Hopefully, AI will get some game time in the upcoming games.
Looked at the coaches' comments on Anthony on the Lakers' website. They said no one yet has been able to exploit his size. They also talked about his hard work and ability to learn.
I don't see Anthony making the Lakers' roster but maybe he will get a shot at their Developmental League team.

I don't see Anthony making the Lakers' roster but maybe he will get a shot at their Developmental League team. His chances went up slightly with the lakers trading for Jeremy Lin. Before it was really looking like they might be turning to Isaiah Thomas who's just as undersized at 5'9. The lakers also let farmar and Bazemore go, so they are limited to Kendall Marshall and Steve Nash. Clarkson may be able to cover the PG spot this year, but at 6'5 he offers a different defensive ability than someone like AI. Nash and Marshall are poor at that end, and No one will bet on Nash playing more than 10 games next year (they might even use the stretch provision and waive him). Marshall might be a nice trading piece for the lakers as he is very serviceable and has a non guaranteed deal for just 1 mil next year (look at Darren Collison making 5x that w/ the kings now). It's still a logjam, and AI would need to show that he doesnt need a year or two to adjust to the bigger trees in the middle (he needed a year in college to), and that he's able to smother people defensively just like Tyronne Lue did as a young laker. I could see AI getting a training camp invite w/ the lakers but yeah, barring many factors aligning he probably will need to be persistent. I'd much rather see him play in europe over the development league. Way more money and I feel like he'd be able to develop the aspects to his game he needs to be a truly complete player.

I have been out here in Vegas watching the NBA summer league. Lakers are probably the worst team he should be on- Poor job by his agent. Too many guards on lakers and signing Lin doesn't help. At the same time many teams are without any good guard prospects. Dallas for example had a 5-8 guard from japan on their roster. No matter what happens he has a very nice back up plan in Europe

Lakers summer league games offer far more exposure than other teams considering the fan base and the fact that nearly all of their games are televised.

AI got 8 minutes in today's thumping from the Pelicans. He had 1 point, no shots, 1 assist, 1 TO, and 1 rebound. He was next to last to get into the game. I suspect the minutes came during garbage time but at least he got 8 minutes.

I watched the game in between the World Cup. He got into the game in the second quarter and then garbage time in the 4th. His one point came off a cut to the basket catch and then foul going up for a layup. His assist was a fast break and alley oop to Mbakwe instead of taking the layup himself.
On his minutes he tended to pass a lot on the break, but he never got the ball back not even Marshall who looked to show scoring potential.
summer league just doesn't show his value. He might need Europe to show his value. I think D League is for scorers and big men. I'd love to see A.I in Israel or Turkey maybe
I think A.I would do great at delivering the coach's instructions running an offense and then playmaking but the summer league and some DLeague games are about padding stats and scoring as much as you can to get noticed like a Manny Harris or Troy Daniels. Patrick Beverly made his mark in Russia even though he was drafted by LAL and traded to Miami. I think AI has to prove he overcome his size. Hard to do that when no one is passing to an unselfish player

Looks like Anthony signed a contract with a French team.

Anthony signed with Elan Chalon which is in the top Pro A division. That's great. Does this mean he's done playing in the summer league (seems like he was only going to play every other game anyways)?

He can still play for the Lakers...though is isn't getting much time. I think he also has the option of being picked up by another NBA team. The good thing his team is France has a lot of exposure being in top league (one of their players from last year was just drafted) If continues to play will he will have more options down the road.

Nothing wrong from living a year in France - in fact I'm jealous. Well done AI! It will be a great learning experience in many ways.

I watched some of the Lakers' Summer League game last night against the Denver Nuggets. AI got some time, but not a lot. SLBLion is right. AI has little chance to showcase (or even use) his talents with the group of showboaters the Lakers have on their team. There was zero "team" play. Just a bunch of guys trying to pad their stats by taking the ball to the hoop every time that could get their hands on the ball. The irony is that everyone of those guys could have better stats if they would even try to work together.
AI didn't make any mistakes. He also played good defense and didn't leave his man. Most of the rest of the team played the ball and gave little heed to their guy. As a result, the Nuggets had open shot after open shot.
As SLBLion said about the previous game, AI mostly just brought the ball up court and then passed it off to someone else who would take a wild shot...giving the ball back to the Nuggets. AI did get the ball back once during the part of the game I watched. With the clock running down, he had to do something. He made one of this trademark cuts to the basket and took a short shot. Unfortunately, a Nugget inside man jumped out and blocked his shot. Actually, to say he "blocked" the shot is an understatement. That "blocked" shot was caught by a fan in the 3rd or 4th row of seats.
I thought AI showed the quickness and acumen needed to play in the NBA, but he's going to need some time to figure out how to play against entire teams with guys who are very fast and very tall. Some seasoning on a good European team could help him develop his game. He's smart enough and certainly works hard. I'll certainly be pulling for him.

Good analysis Winter. I agree the Lakers are looking at a bunch of "Hot Dogs" who are not team players. As to the Lakers, I don't hold much hope as long as Jim Buss in in charge - not sure who is the worse owner him or Donald. At least the Clippers have a solid coach ! Also I agree AI will do better with a "team" in Europe to develop and show his wares.

Looks like Anthony signed a contract with a French team. I don't know how the Chalone sur Saone staff has seen enough of Anthony to name him to their starting five but they list him as a starter along with other Americans Marcus Dove from Oklahoma State, Elston Turner All SEC forward from Texas A&M and Scott Suggs from UW. First geme is September 22. Go Anthony! Founnd this on Eurobasket.com.
