Wow. This is a surprise. I for one would love you to come back to LMU Gabe!

He must have really hated it there. The probability of him coming back to LMU is zero.

Curious on rules. If he came back to LMU, could he resume playing without red-shirting? I know he will not come back. Just curious on rules.
If he transfers to another school, I presume just redshirt 2014-2015?

This is Gabe's fourth move in two years and second in five months. He came to LMU when the coach who had recruited him was terminated. He then chose to transfer out of LMU after the coaching change amidst rumors that he was thinking about leaving before the coaching change took place. Then he selected Marquette reportedly from among other suitors. Now, just after practice has officially begun during his red shirt season, he's gone again. I like Gabe but to me this screams AAU coach, parental and, perhaps, player diva. I hope Gabe lands somewhere he likes and just hunkers down, looks inward, gets better and plays.

I got to know Gabe pretty well while he was at LMU. Basketballl aside he is one of the best people I have ever met at LMU. He was NEVER going to leave LMU while Coach Good was there. Him thinking about transferring is a totally false baseless rumor. When CMD took over he gave the new staff a chance but ultimately felt it wasn't a good fit.
I heard he was unhappy at Marquette because a lot of the players Buzz Williams recruited, before he skipped town, were pretty unsavory characters and Gabe and just didn't want to be there. I hope he finds a right fit because he is a top notch kid who deserves the best.

Gabe will enroll at Santa Monica College and choose between Hawaii and Long Beach State. Both schools have former LMU assistants on staff

If Ironlion is right about Marquette and "unsavory characters", it is indeed unfortunate to hear a fellow Jesuit university have that problem.

I don't know anything about "unsavory characters", but I find it interesting that Levin left Marquette on Wednesday, and the very next day this news comes out: collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/09/marquette-lands-a-top-ten-recruit-in-the-class-of-2015/Connecting the dots, Levin saw his future playing time dropping, and had a quick exit strategy. I wish him well at Hawai'i or Long Beach State. If he joins either for second semester, he would be eligible to play December of 2015, and would only miss 8-10 games in November/early December. Either way, I hope the next stop is his last...get your degree, Gabe. Good luck.

More dot connecting also leads to an alternative conclusion. First, Gabe cannot play Division 1 basketball this year, absent an NCAA waiver, because of the transfer rule. But, as WestCoastHoops tweeted last night Gabe is expected to transfer to Santa Monica College and play JC ball this year and then transfer from JC to Long Beach State (Myke Scholl) or Hawaii (Senque Carey) next year. The timing of Gabe's departure from LMU together with this latest move strongly suggests that Gabe has been talking with some of his former coaches continuously - the never ending recruiting black market that the NCAA transfer rules, waivers and the AAU system have spawned. There is a reason there are now 600+ Division 1 transfers each year. It is not spontaneous.

That's why I'm just focusing on the team at hand. Let the guys that have left find their way. I don't wish anything bad on them, but it was their decision to leave. I'm just going to concentrate my energy on the team we have. Good bunch of guys who'll play hard regardless. Like Longtimelionfan said, AAU coaches, former coaches constantly in these guys ear and head behind the scene. Some guys just want it handed to them, If they're not starting or have enough minutes...OMG!!! I gotta get out of here....a lot of these divas don't want to compete when they get to a certain level.....Not saying Gabe is a diva, relax.
GO LIONS!!!

Well said guard dad I wish Gabe well but what competition will he face in JC league? Could dominate but development? In any case, time to move on with our new exciting squad!

Long Beach State loses 4 of their top 6 scorers to graduation, including two of their bigs. I'm looking for a big season from Gabe next year in near-by LBS. Maybe dancing? They need a center and scoring guard there also, just saying (Scholl).
