The Tritons’ first three games this season are LMU (away), UC Riverside (away) and Academy of Art (away). The first two games are exhibitions and don’t count on the Triton’s record but the Academy of Art game does! Wow! The LMU/AoA game was a laugher and some fans wondered what was the point of the game. For the Tritons, I'll admit that it’s a nice excuse to visit San Francisco.
Triton (/ˈtraɪtən/; Greek: Τρίτων Tritōn) is a mythological Greek god, the messenger of the sea. He is the son of Poseidon and Amphrite, god and goddess of the sea respectively, and is herald for his father. He is usually represented as a merman, having the upper body of a human and the tail of a fish, "sea-hued", according to Ovid[1] "his shoulders barnacled with sea-shells". We should beat mermaids, no?
Triton Fight Song
Fight on, with mighty Triton spirit
Hail to the Triton name
Men and women march victorious
On to fame
Stand proud, the Triton host prevails
March on in unity
Bold and strong we fight to Triton
Victory
UCSD fight! Fight! Fight!
Hard to picture mermaids fighting?
UCSD is a relatively young team but with a nice core returning. They don’t have much height – tallest player is 6’7” - so we should match up well, especially inside.
No game is a cake walk, especially the first game under a new coach, but I expect the Lions will step up and deliver a comfortable win on Thursday.
Gametime:
Thursday, November 6, 7 pm, Gersten
