Rumor has it...Hayes may still be out with the groin pull, I believe a game time decision. He may come the bench. He was to start but Dunlap says there is a long season. Don't want to reaggrivate it.
GO LIONS!!!

Evan got banned for two days not two games Good. I think Dunlap realized that his team is terrible without Evan and that getting drilled two times in a row in a tournament that you host is not a way to get fans to show up to your games in which you charge the same amount as Clippers tickets. Remember the Max Good debacle of losing to Columbia and North Texas during the Centennial Tourney? Maybe someone with sense figured thats not a way to endear to fans. And before someone says "it's not about the fans or student body its about doing what the coach wants to instill" and blah blah ...yes it is. Our new members of the board are going to be shocked when they see empty Gersten instead of raucous St. Mary's, BYU, Gonzaga or even USF. Some of us here are not complainers or negative energy people, we're just waiting for a time when people care to show up. The ROAR, or whatever is left over, wants to root for Evan and see some dunks, not some DII talent running around stumbling. LETS GO LMU tomorrow, I'll be there.

Lions' three seniors appear to be team captains in pre-game meeting with refs, a nice touch

I liked what I saw. Much better than what was expecting. Was expecting a very raw Lion team but seemed concerted approach, decent ball movement, and solid rebounding. Promising.

Nice ball movement tonight and good free throw shooting. Hayes impressed me and Payne was good as expected. The team seemed to be playing good team basketball. Good start for game 1 of the season.

Good game overall. Improved shooting. Good ball movement. Seemed Deji and Evan were our bail outs late in the shot clock when the ball movement failed to bear fruit. Going forward, it would be nice to be able to go to Godwin or Petr for a mid to late shot clock bucket. Patson showed up on D. I personally liked him going coast to coast and dunking it to end the game as well. "Send it down big man...send it down!!!"
First game ...but I think we will need more disruption - defensively - from our guards - Matt, Deji, David and Evan. Not excluding Chase but his game is more about stability than disruption. Not sure you will consistently notch wins if you fail to turn a team over more than five times in the game. If WCC teams are allowed to run their offense unfettered, our Bigs will have too much pressure from top Bigs on other squads, accrue fouls and allow the other team to score inside fairly consistently. We have to win the guard play battles defensively as well as offensively. Gotta help our inside guys out. Oh well, it will give the Coach something to focus on/gripe about.
Nice win! Go Lions!
