I agree with Winter. With LMU's location and annual WCC visits by Gonzaga & BYU, scouts are present at multiple games every year. Also, TV exposure is less of an issue now with the WCC regular season and tournament ESPN package and the regional exposure on Time Warner, Comcast and Fox cable sports channels.

I agree with Winter and SLB. Given LMU's proximity to LAX and the annual visits by Gonzaga, BYU and others, scouts are at multiple LMU games every year. And, with the WCC's regular season and tournament ESPN package, the WCC Game of the Week package on Comcast, Time Warner and the Fox regional sports networks, TV exposure is less of an issue than it was previously.

Putting aside other factors, do you think our poor performance last night will make coming to LMU more attractive or less for Phillips. I know AI said during his recruitment that he realized after watching a game that he could step in and help the team immediately, one factor in his choosing LMU.

I suspect it's different and idiosyncratic for every recruit. My understanding is that most find the anticipation of immediate playing time attractive and view themselves as positive change factors if they are otherwise sold.

Any player worth having believes he has a bright future and is more than anxious to prove it. Immediate playing time and exposure are primary motivators. Those are strengths for LMU.
Another major factor is the coach's connection with the recruit, his family and any close advisors (coach, etc). It's going to take some time to see how that works out with Dunlap.

While I really regret LMU wasn't his choice, I'm heartened by the fact that LMU recruited him hard and made it to his final two. Like yesterday's game performance, the only way you become competitive is too compete and to raise the competitive bar. By definition that means you'll fail more often than not as you ascend. Keep competing Lions!
