I haven’t seen Stanford play but from their roster they look big and most likely very athletic. The Lions will have a real challenge this Wednesday on the road.
Will our front line make a presence for themselves in this game? Can Evan continue to carry the Lions with Stanford no doubt focused on shutting him down? Will Evan start?
Seems to be a learning year for the Lions, all of them, including the coaches.
Gametime: Wednesday, December 17, 6 pm in Palo Alto. Video: Pac-12 Network.

Ten minutes into the game, the Lions are playing like I imagined they could before the season began. Can we sustain our superb play for 40 minutes? If so we picked a great game to finally show up! Go Lions!

Lions got a bit out of their "comfort" zone (a term golfers know) and made some silly TOs late in the half. Let's get our composure back and finish this game! Go Lions!

Great first half in spite of our usual tendencies toward turnovers until the last 5 minutes when we took to picking up the dribble near the sideline then tossing it to one of their post players just before the shot clock expired. That happened 3 or 4 times in a row and caused us to blow a 12 point. In spite of continuing turnovers (seems like we must have set a new season record), we hung in well until the last 6 minutes of the game then, too much Randle. My impressions include: Evan, as expected was drawing double and even triple coverage - tried to do too much. Others generally reluctant to shoot open shots; (Notable exception was Matt's timely 3's and another good game from Monar); Noticed the coach has been getting Wyatt some experience; not a bad overall effort. And for anyone that tracks such things: we again beat the spread. Hopefully we will turn in another credible effort against Wichita State.. Go Lions!

It looks like Stanford relied on Randle more than we rely on Evan. He really torched our guys tonight. A question for the guys who were in attendance in Palo Alto -- is he that good?
For a good portion of the game we had a fairly well balanced offense with 7 players getting 4 or more shots. We had a very slight edge in rebounds and shot better than the Cardinal. The two areas that killed us were TOs and forgetting the balanced attack for a few stretches, especially late in the game. Deji really hurt us with his 7 TOs. Nice to see Devin get some prime time. Was Godwin sick?
Still, while we lost, it was a close game -- very close until the waning minutes. Good effort guys - on to Oahu.

Randle is a nice player but not 31 points nice. We helped Randle with half of those points. ? GO LIONS!!!

Did anyone hear the announcer say that Godwin was on disciplinary action? I think that's what I heard. Maybe he's frustrated CMD isn't giving him much play time.

Guarddad and Golions1444 - since you guys were in the gym last night we'd love to get your detailed analysis of how the individual players looked.

Unfortunately I can't say much, just the same things that have been plaguing us all season so far, turnovers. I must say though that was the most well balanced scoring all season. If we can do that on a regular basis and cut down the turnovers, we'll better our chances in getting the wins. As you may have saw or heard, they were hounding Evan, Evan was exhausted from playing against 2 guys sometimes 3 every time he touched the ball. They were not going to let Evan beat them.
ALOHA LIONS!!!

I really wonder what Godwin would have done that he doesn't travel. He is a great teammate, hard worker, and has never had any issues in the past four years. Dunlap even took him to WCC media day. CMD heavy hand of discipline seems to be a bit out of control.

This teams another threat offensively. Someone has to step up. Hayes could be that guy, but the problem is they need a facilitator. I think the key is Kravcovic. Hayes might need to play off the ball. The problem he is a little undersized. They also need to develop their shooters.
The real problem is that they have one bonafide star who the whole team looks to create offense and a bunch of role players. Sounds like the Lakers.
Teams that aren't deep enough win by playing mistake free basketball and defense, so unless Herman or Siame become stars overnight, they'll just have to play defense and make few turnovers. Whatever happened to implementing the press?
