Guarddad - those were the two points I've been making. For quite awhile actually. Matt needs some shots to go down to get into his groove; and he needs more shooting opportunities (coming via screens, plays that get him open looks, etc). Given our struggles this year with scoring I simply do not understand why there hasn't been a stronger effort to make Matt a true scoring threat.

Kudos to Connor Jean for nailing a 17-foot jumper in his first NCAA game. He played tough D, as well.
We had 8 players in uniform, Wyatt had 4 fouls by halftime, Jean had never played, and Herman badly rolled his ankle just before half. Credit to Herman for trying to play in the second half but CMD did the wise thing by taking him out.
While the first half was deplorable (I counted at least four times we drove baseline, jumped in the air to pass it and threw it away) the second half was a pleasure to watch and cheer. As noted we turned up the pressure on D and really rattled SCU.
A few observations: Godwin had a great weekend and received a standing ovation from the crowd when he fouled out in the final 10 seconds-he has had an impressive five years at LMU; Mornar looks completely gassed- we only have one game in the next 12 days so hopefully he will be ready for Vegas; I really, really like Humphries' game...the shot wasn't always falling but he is a beast on D (just ripped the ball away from SCU a few times) and knows where to be; Completely agree w others that SCU is a much better Vegas match up for us than USF; I just would like to see Payne, Deji and Siame all in uniform for Vegas so we can give it our best shot.
Go Lions!
