Lets use this thread to discuss the tourney. Our friends at The Slipper Still Fits (Gonzaga blog) have made this great post which gives all the television schedules for the first and second rounds. www.slipperstillfits.com/2015/3/15/8221015/march-madness-2015-how-to-watch-tv-schedule-analystsGames that I'll be interested in BYU vs Ole Miss Gonzaga vs North Dakota State UC Irvine vs Louisville Boise State vs Dayton Wichita State vs Indiana SMU vs UCLA as a fan of the Tar Heels North Carolina vs Harvard past recruits Providence vs Boise State/Dayton winner.

SLB, thank you for your post and link. Very handy. I'm no savvy enough to figure out how to post a bracket here but it would be fun for all of us who like to share our "knowledge" to put ourselves to a fun test and post our picks for fun. I'll post my "First Four" and "First Round" (I know officially its second round by I still don't see it that way) later. Back to work.

BYU was roasting Ole Miss in the first half and led 49-32 at the half. Now with about 6 minutes left they trail by 4 points. Once their shots stopped falling, their porous defense has failed them. Ole Miss realized that they can penetrate the middle all day since BYU doesn't have any rim protectors. Meanwhile they have played more agressive defense and forced a ton of turnovers. BYU in trouble!
As much as I dislike them, I'm kind of rooting for the fellow WCC team.

how do you lose a game when you score 90 points? When you give up 60 points in a half!

Slb - BYU's lack of good big men cost them.

Yes, they were really weak inside this year. That was a known going into the year. Their offense was so potent with multiple scorers that they could obscure their lack of interior size. In WCC play the lack of size didn't hurt too much because the league had very little quality size.
But what killed them was the lack of a true point guard. Kyle C is a very good player but he doesn't have the PG mentality to control the game. A little control at the right times and most of their losses would have been wins. Last night was no different.
I was a bit disappointed in Coach Rose this year for not settling his guys down better. Way too many times they went into panic mode with the first guy down court jacking up a three. Then they would do that repetitively, which would lead to them losing focus on defense. Last night it let Ole Miss back in the game. No disrespect for the Rebels but BYU let them win a game that should have gone the other way.

I did find myself rooting for BYU. It was an unbelievable scoring effort, but they could not rebound the basketball ball in the second half. The first half they made all their shots so they didn't need to. I was also disappointed in Coach Rose that he did not get his team to gather their composure. They threw away so many balls by trying to play fast. There were a lot of costly turnovers the last 5 minutes of the game.

Longtime mentioned about posting brackets for tourney picks to share our knowledge. Just in case anyone was interested I decided to create a LMU Proboards bracket Pool on yahoo. I know jellybeans are popular on this board, but there are no jellybeans involved in this pool. This pool is strictly for pride, and possibly exposing my lack of college basketball knowledge to the res of the board. Anyone interested in playing can join the pool from the link below. Password to join the group is Lions. (If you don't already have a yahoo ID, you will need to create one to join the group.) yho.com/tourney?g=214254&k=73e5b734fb10b978Also I do realize that with message boards there are members that like to maintain some anonymity, if that is the case when joining your bracket profile page allows you to check the option to hide your e-mail address from the group (that is not the default option, so you need to check) and you can also override your bracket name, and use your message board screen name for your bracket. Also Deadline to make your picks for the 2nd round is 9am Thursday morning PDT.

I thought I posted this earlier today.
Elsewhere, St Mary’s (21-9) is one 4th seed in the NIT and takes on SEC-member Vanderbilt (19-13) on ESPN2 at 6 pm today.
Pepperdine (18-13) takes on Seattle U. (16-15) in the CBI, where UC Santa Barbara is also playing.
Portland (17-15, 7-11 WCC) is in the prestigious CIT and takes on Sacremento (20-11) state today.

The vaunted Big 12 ( the conference with 10 teams, not to be confused with the Big 10 which has 13 teams) took it in the shorts today when Iowa State, a #3 seed lost to UAB and Baylor also a number 3 seed lost to Georgia State. As expected Texas was whipped by Butler. Closer to home, UCLA upset SMU and last night in the CBI Pepperdine was upset by Seattle and Portland was upset by Sac State in the CTI.

The Gaels lost to a talented Vanderbilt team also - so the WCC is down to one team carrying the flag - guess who? Zags perhaps?

Irvine put up a good fight against Louisville and our future coach Wyking Jones. Congrats to them.
Boise lost a tough one to host Dayton,
So far two of our opponents are left in Gonzaa and Wichita St. Both will have challenging games ahead.
I'll be rooting for the Zags but that looks like a tough matchup against Iowa. If they can get past them, they would have a rematch with UCLA . Then it's Duke. Gonzaga has all the chance in the world to make noise

Good Wichita State win over Indiana. VanVleet put om a virtuoso performance as a shooting-scoring point guard and kept them in it until the rest of the Shockers caught up. The pace of a game like that must scare the socks off a coach like ours who seemingly needs to managed every dribble. (How can he hold them "accountable" if they move so fast?)
Sunday Wichita State meets Kansas who has steadfastly refused to play them for literally ever. KU athletic Department's logic is they don't want to "divide Kansans" with needless sporting contests. (Never mind they play Kansas State in everything). So their game, in nearby Omaha, has the ingredients of a dandy. (BTW I'm originally from Wichita)

UCI put up a great battle but their guards just make too many mistakes. I loved the announcers comment about Ndiaye (sp?) making Louisville's 7' center look like a guard
