Strengths:
Bassett is a rangy 4-man with long arms and a solid dose of athleticism. He has the shoulder width, good hands, and bounce to convert in traffic through contact. However, he is more productive hitting elbow jump shots and snatching rebounds due to his terrific motor. He runs well in transition and can finish on the break. Defensively, his motor allows him to challenge shots in the key and get his hands on loose balls.
Weaknesses:
Bassett needs to polish his post skills and fundamentals. He shows very little offense with his back to the basket and his fundamentals need attention. He needs to bend his knees and play much wider while keeping the ball high. In addition, developing a go-to move on the block will enhance his stock.
Bottom Line:
Bassett is an intriguing prospect in the west coast class who bodes a solid upside. If he continues to work on his skills inside-and-out and his fundamentals, he is one of the better prospects in the California class of 2016.
