Hey everyone. After some time away and not following the program for a year or two except for small stories and box scores I am wondering what the hell is going on here...
First Coach.. I was excited originally when I heard the news. It was a guy that understands the program and the college game but can bank on some NBA experience. Look you don't get hired in the nba for no reason. Now I come on here and wonder what the hell is going on. The few things I will say. We had a similar situation when Tention left and everyone here celebrated that and the ridding of all his players. Things were being said that they are all D-2 players, so it was time for them all to go. Bayno brought in some good players and some winning happened here, but is it a level that we should of been happy with? Dunlop has mentioned in things that I have read, that he wants to go up tempo turning he clock back a little bit. In my opinion, if we are going to give Good 5 years, then why wouldnt we do that with Dunlop?
Second Roster Turnover... Think of the talent that was chased off by the last group, OJ played actual minutes for a team that was the only real threat to lebron in the east since the Celtics got old....off to UCSB Kevin Young transferred to Kansas...where they made it to the National Championship game(played 11 mins) and lost to the Anthony Davis, Kidd Gilchrest and Terrance Ross kentucky team and started for a team that made it to the Sweet 16 and lost to a Trey Burke Michigan team. Now to be clear I wasnt a huge KY fan but you cant deny that and that he was from the 18-16 team that made a post season tournament here. Does anyone here actually see these guys leaving as actual NBA prospects? Kupcheck writing things about freshman means nothing. The same stuff was being said about JD, Matt Bolden(GU) and many more. When a freshman at a mid major can fill up the bucket they will add them to the recruiting database, that holds hundreds of players.
So I guess at the end of this, where are we at? I read the board and it looks like there is little to root for, but are these new guys and transfers going to help change that? Its been 25 years, isnt it time that this gets figured out. Last piece, if Dunlop doesnt work out in the next couple years...its time to give Bo his chance. He has more experience than Steve Kerr did and that worked out well. Require that he has offensive and defensive mentors on his staff and hire the guy already. its time for this team to get moving.
Oh and after the grantland article that I read, I agree with golionsgo of yesteryear, time to get rid of Bove and Husak. No good is done with those two.
Here;s to hoping for a new land of positivity and prosperity for our Lions.
