Well Well Well. If we keep this up. LMU will not win a game. Need to come up with a new game plan and a new lineup. Maybe start looking further down the bench, couldn't hurt. Tired of seeing these college players throwing up shots and playing like 8th graders. Is dunlap tanking it. Just a thought!!!

Easy to pile on when we lay an egg. Love (sarcasm) how people stay quiet and then post for the first time when we have our first bad game since UC Irvine (second game of the season).
Not saying I am not frustrated, too. I turned it off when the run was 21-0. Sick to my stomach.
That said, I am not going to berate Dunlap. The guys shot 36 percent and we were outrebounded by 17.
It was an awful game. Just turn the page, play Gonzaga tough, and try to get better. It was a clunker, that's for sure, but just learn from it and move on.
I still think we can win 10 games in league. Go Lions!

After this showing we will be lucky to win 6 games or .500 against everyone else

I have has going 1-5 vs the top 3, 5-1 vs the bottom 3, and splitting with the middle 3. I had Portland in the middle 3 (with USF and Pepperdine), so I had LMU losing this game, but obviously not by 30. I did watch the entire game and they played their best game of the year, and we just didn't have it. I don't understand how people can get so down after one game, after playing pretty well for the last 5-6, bad games happen, deal with it. We will also probably get killed tomorrow, I'd like to see us stay within 25 and hold them under 100. We will start league 0-2, then get a nice week off, and come back and continue playing like we have been all season.
We will probably have 2 more games like this during the year, we will also have a couple games where we are on the other side of it, and we beat a team like USF by 20+. As long as the players don't overreact(lose confidence in their teammates/coaching staff) after these games like some of the people in this forum everything should be fine.

I was uncomfortably numb by halftime. What a thumping. Any guesses as to what the spread will be against Gonzaga?

The frustration not getting the on-line video and the Lions radio broadcast cutting out every five minutes or so added to the anguish but mostly it was expectations too high for the performance we delivered. Let's see if we can recover a bit at Gonzaga. I note that game is also on Root tv so we may not get video again!

BANDWAGON!!! The cart is empty we will be rolling through town again to collect more people when we beat the bottom tier teams. Why is anyone shocked by this loss? You cannot have a peak to a pyramid without first building the base. The problem is that Portland is led by guys the same age or younger and is in the middle tier. That would mean that we are still bottom tier unless there's dramatic improvement. It's not like it was close. Last year Dunlap wiped the board clean and said we wouldn't finis last. Honestly we should be middle of the pack now given Dunlaps own standards. The crazy thing is that if it takes a year with his guys to even make to 6-8 this year and the goal is 4-6 next year, all those guys graduate after next any ways because of how transfer reliant he has been, then you go back to square 1. It's not that Dunlap has made our program worse, it's just seeming to be a lateral move. Just don't complain and say the program was garbage all around when a 20 win season looks 5 years away. That's why the way to go should have been to hire a new young guy who is willing to see out a rebuild from the ground up, not a guy who will be inpatient due to age and the fact that he just got fired, and because, let's be honest, CMD is VERY prideful. Max Good sucked too but probably would have delivered a top 4 team this year. The real problem is that Good didn't realize his time was up soon and unwilling to train a successor . Husak has no guts to hire a fresh assistant for the future. Hopefully he can turn it around by surprising one of the better teams but thus far has been out coached by the best coaches in the league: Few Bennett Reveno. I was at the Fullerton game where everything was clicking. I saw Haney drain 3s I saw Tutu throw an NBA pass. But how much of that was lack of competition?

Our non conference schedule was not very difficult, but Boise, Oregon State, and Colorado State are all better than Portland. And considering 48 hours before the game the same Fullerton team who we beat twice gave Portland everything they had, schedule is not to blame for this loss. Blaming easy schedule for that loss is a little ridiculous, because it implies that the teams we played didn't get us ready to play Portland, which makes it sound like you think Portland is the best team we have played this year (not even close to being true). And saying Good would have this team top four is ridiculous, waaaaay too many character issues with his players to ever be competitive. This team is still WCC middle of the pack, you can't allow one game to overshadow the previous 8, good or bad. For example if we win tomorrow, would you think we are a top 25 team and potentially sweet 16 bound... Probably not. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/bpi/_/id/2351/year/2016 Here is a link to ESPN Basketball Power Index (BPI) Rankings. This is 100% based of statistics so take it for what it is but as you can see, we have been trending upwards, especially with the three games prior to this one. But this allows you to see how poor of a performance last game was compared to our others. It is kind of an interesting statistic to follow throughout the season.
