He was in attendance for last nights game and is still committing?!?!? Dunlap must have a way with words... Also, he is from East Lancing so I would bet he knows Haney pretty well. To add more detail to my last comment, he had offers from Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, USC, Wake Forrest, NC State, Providence, Xavier, and a few more. Also considered a 4 star recruit by all the rankings so that would be a first for LMU since who knows when.
Here is a video of him just before his sophomore season in high school:
And one more of his junior year:
Couldnt find any decent ones of his senior year but in a couple I saw he looked even more athletic. This guy is looks every bit of 6'10" while also being a decent athlete, very lengthy, and skilled. If this guy could come in next year(second half of the season) as a Freshman, we would have a good big man for the next 4 years.

Drew Viney- Larry Davis and I believe Nino Jackson were all four star recruits.

I thought Nino was a three, he could have been good if he got his off the court issues together. But as previously mentioned, the last Oregon transfer to LMU worked out pretty well. And would this mean we are done recruiting for this year?

AI committed after watching a game noting that he "could help the team right away" - playing time counts with these guys Good recruit - thanks roar!

It's also worth noting that the last time a 6'9" guy from East Lansing came to LA to play it worked out pretty well. Just sayin.

I thought Shannon Brown was closer to 6'4", but ya he was alright.

I also wonder if Sykes will de-commit because of this, all of the sudden we have sykes, herman, johnson, jacko, and now manuel, that is a crowded front court.

I can only assume one big reason he is transferring because he will get more playing time? And of course LMU is awesome school overall.

Looks like a nice pick up for Dunlap. With a lot of these young kids, potential is the key and hopefully Dunlap can unlock the kids upside. Good size that we need.

His hometown reporter verified Manuel's commitment. www.mlive.com/sports/jackson/index.ssf/2016/01/former_lansing_everett_basketb_1.htmlFor those that cannot access, Manuel played w Michigan State's Denzel Valentine as a freshman, was at basketball factory Oak Hill Academy as a junior, returned to East Lansing and averaged 23.5, 11 and 6 blocks as a senior and was voted as the third-best player in the state! Very exciting day for the Lions. Too bad he will only have 20-25 games with Jacko but it is safe to assume we have someone who can fill Jacko's shoes once he graduates. Go Lions!

Only concern is how his stock as declined, he was considered a top 50 player in the country as a junior, by the end of his senior year he dropped out of the top 100 (still top 150), and he didn't really do anything at Oregon. I saw that some scouts described him as a very talented guy who just hasn't quite put it together. The upside is there, but it is unfair to call him the next Jacko and then be disappointed if he averages 5 or 6 points and 3 or 4 boards per game next year, because that is still pretty damn good for a freshman.
Edit: Also, I get a little nervous about guys who attended 3 different high schools and then transfer halfway into their freshman year, hopefully we can keep him.

To clarify, I did not mean to compare him to Jacko, but Manuel had much better numbers than Jacko had in high school.
I agree that comparisons are not unfair.
All I was trying to say is that by Dunlap pulling in the third-best player from a strong basketball state, it means, in my humble opinion, the program is in better shape today than it was yesterday. We need more, of course, but one step at a time.
Also, as was pointed out, we need to keep Manuel and develop him.
Go Lions!

lmu2015 - three's a crowd, not five Sykes should get in 2 good years and may well play ahead of some current roster players.
Regarding overall recruiting, I wouldn't be surprised if Dunlap were to replace a player or two on the current roster with a new recruit so we may see more action in the recruiting area.
