Nice mention of LMU there - Gipson seems enthused to join the Lions. I see notices in the local papers of Fairfax HS results but really don't see Gipson mentioned a lot in the (admittedly limited) report. I think Fairfax has lots of talent on their squad and players other than Gipson usually are high scorers in any given game. Playing with top talent in HS is a definite plus though.
Seems like a very solid young man with a great head on his shoulders. Is he a SG or a PG? He has a nice outside shot for a PG.

He is a SG/SF, he has a nice release and hopefully he can be an outside threat for us next year. I think he is good enough to immediately step in and be humpheries replacement.

He is a SG/SF, he has a nice release and hopefully he can be an outside threat for us next year. I think he is good enough to immediately step in and be humpheries replacement. With his size I hope he is SG and not a SF. Next years lineup looks okay on paper just can't see it all coming together in one year PG Tutu / Brown SG Gibson / McClendon SF Haney / Tuach / Spiers PF Manuel / Sykes C Jacko / Johnson / Herman Dunlap is doing okay recruiting. Not superstars but some depth and various skills. But the actual X's and O's has easily been at the bottom of the league only "worsted" by perhaps Kerry Keating. Dunlap needs to get off Twitter and stop being a tourist at these coaching clinics he goes to and actually take notes. Dunlap is like the people who stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. Look I've visited the louvre but that doesn't make me an expert. If Dunlap can put any semblance of schemes by next year they can be middle of the road and chase 17 or 18 wins and maybe .500. Remember unless you can knock off one of the big 3 next year going .500 means you end up needing to go 9-3 against everyone else. Next year BYU might be the best squad as Gonzaga will take a massive talent hit.

Gonzaga is still going to be an elite team next year, Few is an amazing coach and they will arguably have the two best players in the conference again in Washington transfer Nigel William-Goss (6'3" 190lb PG) and Missouri transfer Jonathan Williams (6'9" 230lb forward). In the 2014-15 season Goss was an All pac-12 performer, averaging 15 points, and about 5 assists and 5 rebounds per game. Williams lead Missouri in both scoring and rebounding that same year with about 12 points and 7 rebounds per game. So they are losing a lot but they will mostly likely have the best 1-2 punch in the league next year.
As for your depth chart, I would really like to see Tutu make the improvements to be able to start over Brown, but I don't think it will happen unless Tutu becomes a shooting threat. And again, I'd also like to see Herman get more minutes than Johnson, for us to be a good team he really needs to improve.
I have sympathy for Dunlap in trying to figure out our line up because outside of Jacko, no starter consistently out performs anyone on the bench, that lack of consistency/differential and bench and starters makes it very difficult to establish a good rotation. And you can't be a good team without an established rotation. But at the same time he is getting paid big bucks to figure it out so he needs to.

The big three are going to have a major infusion of talent next year.
Gonzaga- any holes left by NBA/ graduation departures will be filled by Williams-Goss and Williams mentioned above. Zags also add a recruiting class ranked #20 in the nation by ESPN. Zach Collins, a McDonald's all american is the crown jewel. They also add a top 100 ranked SG Zach Norvell and three international players. Killian Tillie forward from France should make an intimidate impact.
BYI - Chase Fischer and Kyle Collinsworth will be hard to replace but BYU will be loaded next year. Cougs have a tremendous 2016 recruiting class...but not sure who will be going on the LDS missions. Yoeli Childs from the 2016 class should suiting up and should get significant minutes. Three very talented players will return from their missions; T.J. Haws a gunner joins Payton Dastrup a ESPN top 100 player and Erik Mika who was beast his freshman year in the WCC before going on his mission.
SMC- this was suppose to be rebuilding year after losing five starters yet Gaels have been ranked in the top #25 and are second in the conference. SMC has no seniors and add a excellent recruiting class. Jordan Ford a excellent PG who had a lot of big offers is the prize of the class.
For the Lions:
Trevor- will help the Lions when he becomes eligible in Dec. but he needs to put on a lot of muscle. I see him as taller version of Money. Donald- looks like he a good shooter- I hope he can also slash to the basket and set up his own shot. Josh- seems to have a lot of upside but needs to add weight as well
I think Dunlap and staff have A LOT of work to do improve their recruiting. A large percent of players they recruited are only averaging around 5 ppg.
As for the rest of the WCC classes its wait and see.

I think BYU is the weakest of the big 3 next year, Gonzaga will probably have better individual talent than Saint Mary's, but as we know this is a team game. I expect both Saint Mary's and Gonzaga to be in the preseason top 25 next year, and BYU will be a bubble team fighting for a tourney bid as always. As it looks right now, 4-10 is an absolute crap shoot, but I would expect Pepperdine and USF to be most people 4 and 5 picks in the conference pre season poll, but I would be surprised if either team was in the top half of college basketball. If I had to put money on it I would say the WCC is still at least 3-4 years away from a team not in the current Big 3 making the NCAA tourney. Maybe LMU can do it by the time Manuel and Gipson are seniors (which would be my best case scenario).

If we are losing recruits to Duke we are probably going after the wrong recruits... I like the optimism though. Hopefully we can bring in one more freshman big man or a shooter, can never have too many bigs and shooters.
On a side not, I'm sure Sykes is a great athlete and a tough player, but he fouls a lot and is 4-15 from the FT line in the last 3 games, which is not a great formula for playing time. Also Donald Gipson hasn't really been playing, hopefully he didnt return from his injury too soon.

I thought someone thought Jack White might commit to St Mary's so we're in the right league there. Re Sykes, discouraging news. Seems lots of folks are banking on his "upside."

Great interview with Gipson. Seems like a good, humble kid who can bring a lot to the table. Also good to see Dunlap bringing in local kids and making a recruiting impact in So Cal. Building the program will take time, but a 14 win season and a good performance on national TV last night will help. I think Tutu and McClendon could be future All Conference kids.

I saw Sykes play in the state juco semi finals last night, he fouled out in about 15 minutes of action, but was very productive while on the court. Fresno also plays 2 teams of 5, like Kentucky did last year, which is another reason for his minimal playing time. I think he can learn not to foul and be a good energy guy off the bench for us next year. I also hope we sign Chibueze Jacobs, he's tough, plays really hard, relentless energy, great defensive player and rebounder, and has shown the ability to score.
