This board crashed, I guess everyone trying to log on at the same time.
Way to pull this win out of the hat. Key to the game was more Humphries and less Haney. Also, Devin Watson was very much the 18-19 year old trying to prove something to his high school coach, maybe Dunlap and do it for Walters. He was pressing all game.
Big win, maybe they can still make my prediction of 5 victories.

It's the worst game I've seen Watson play. He ended up with quite a few points but his performance in the closing minutes probably lost the game for the Dons.
Humphries was our star. Nice clutch shooting
Haney started the game hot but cooled off quickly. He had several TOs and played some awful defense.
I still don't think we play very good defense but the offense certainly perked up.
Let's go get the Broncos on Saturday.

Great victory! Huge for morale.
On the postgame show on KXLU, Jacko said this week the Lions had been practicing "situations", including a lot of "what to do the last 13 seconds of a game." He also said Johnson has been shooting 100 free throws a day after practice. Nice to see it pay off!
The 4 free throws for Tutu could be huge for his confidence, too.
Go Lions!

Some impressive offensive stats -
.460 FG percentage, .444 on 3-pointers 17 of 19 on FTs 21 assists!
A ton of points(16 baskets) from the bench.

We beat them 8-0 in fast break points and our bench outscored theirs 48-13, with humpheries and spiers going for 31. I assume the focus in practice this week when game planning for USF was containing Watson and limiting their transition offense, Watson was 5-20 and they had 0 points in transition. Brown and Tutu also combined for 14 assists (Tutu with 6 in only 13 minutes), both those guys did a great job at getting into the lane and drawing a second defender, and then obviously our shooters made the open shots.

Coach made the adjustments! The point guards were running the screen. The 3's got open and delivered. Humphreys and Spiers played like D-1 players. Jocko continues to impress. Johnson made free-throws! Amazing what happens when the offense is run correctly.
Tutu needs to make his lay ups and stop the non-sense of throwing the ball at the basket. He needs to shoot it with deliberation. We could have won in double figures if he makes that adjustment to his game.
Now we need consistency. Go Lions

Tutu has talent and I think he will end up being a pretty good player over the course of his four years. But, for now, he still plays like he's in high school. He's clearly not used to the length and quickness of D-I ball. He'll be okay. He just needs some time. It was nice to see those clutch free throws. That basket seems to shrink to half size in those situations.

Good game - encouraging. Now let's not have a big let down again. I like Humphries a lot - glad he is getting his minutes. Go Lions!
