I should have acknowledged Brown who was key to the win. I guess I just expected it from his outstanding play all season. Go Lions!

Very nice win for the Lions. This week is probably the team's best performance in CMD's short tenure. Brown had a great game and really controlled the pace. He had a nice mix of outside shooting and drives. Humphries made the difference in the first half when he came in and hit 3 threes. That gave the Lions a nice cushion that they never relinquished. Johnson provided a nice spark early in the second half. The defense on Brownridge was pretty good. They got lax for awhile in the second half and he burned them. But the Lions sort of regrouped after that and played him much better. A few 3s by Mornar were really nice to see. I liked having Brown and Tutu on the court late in the game. We needed the multiple ball handlers.
A few interesting stats: 29 points from the bench; 21-3 on second chance points, 38-23 rebounding edge, LMU had the lead for 34 of the 40 minutes, only 1 missed FT.
Negatives: 1) Jacko has to stop with the silly fouls. He could've had a field day against Santa Clara's weak inside defense but he took himself out of the game with his fouls. 2) This was a perfect game for Hermann to assert himself. He had size over Santa Clara's front line but simply refused to play strong 3) Haney - he played strong defense against Brownridge in the first half but got lazy at the beginning of the second half. CMD had to take him out of the game. His shooting was a poor 1/5. Probably worst of all, he allowed himself to get trapped several times late in the game.
Bottom Line - Overall, it was a very good performance, even better than Thursday's. This trip to the Bay Area has provided a real boost to team psyche.

Brown and Jacko have the expectation to play at an all conference level and they did (when on the court) these last two games, but we're 0-7 without humpheries right now. We absolutely killed them on the boards, humpheries boxes out/fights for position as well as anyone you will see at the college level. Johnson had 5 offensive boards too, and mornar got some long rebounds that lead to second chance points. Good confidence builder going into the BYU game.

Fantastic road trip! We are now 9-1 when we score at least 71 points, and 0-8 when we score 70 or less. We clearly need to keep forcing turnovers and play at a faster pace.
Game recap says that was the Lions first Bay Area sweep since 1992...that was a long time ago!
