I agree with others the big Swede has potential. I believe Dunlap could bring out his best on the court with conditioning and sound coaching. With just his size alone, he can change shots inside. Not the quickest player but kinda reminds me of Ndiaye of Irvine and Mattias has 4 or 5 years to develop his skills. Shoots FTs like DeAndre Jordan - is that a good sign? I'd like to see the Lions land this fella and develop his talents for the future. Thanks Andy.

A little more news on the big man... If us and Miami of Ohio are the only 2 schools he is visiting I like our chances. The following is a link to the professional team he plays for. basketball.eurobasket.com/team/Sweden/KFUM-Jamtland-Basket/1028?Page=3He gets about 6 points, 4 boards, and 1 block in 16 minutes per game. I also looked at the better players on his team and the rest of the league, the elite players in this league were good D2 players in the U.S. So the WCC would most likely be a decent jump in skill level, but he just turned 20 and is obviously pretty new to the game. Hopefully we can get him signed and on campus ASAP to start working on his strength/coordination.

Washington states Que Johnson is also considering LMU for his final season, he is 6'5" and a great shooter and would have one year of eligibility. Not very likely we get him though considering how many schools are after him.

Just checked Huskies website and Darin Johnson (probably "Que") a sophomore is leaving the team. He struggled at Washington and was passed in the rotation by a walk on. A former 4-star recruit averaged 5.9 pig last season with apparently limited minutes. I'm not excited about Johnson.

90045, wrong school and different player. Que is from Washington State not UW.

If I am not mistaken, the last time we had a player from Sweden it was Per Stumer in 1988. Needless to say, that worked out really well for LMU.

longtime - thanks - found him. Que is not a big scorer averaging 6.9 ppg but is the type of big-body guard (6'5" 208) that Dunlap likes. Is he a PG?

Great news, I assume he will redshirt but who knows. Based on his production and the league he is playing in I would say he's not quite ready to play D1, but when you are 7'1" it doesn't take much to affect the game. Looking forward to reading the article.

Looks like another player currently on the roster may have to find a new home to make the schollies work out?

Re next season, I expect our new guy from Hawaii, Adom Jacko and Shamar Johnson to handle the inside chores backed up by our transfer 4-* after the first term, so Mattias will have time to develop and practice with the team. I also think he will redshirt next season. I like Dunlap's chances of developing his skills if anyone can. Go Lions!

Looking forward to reading the article. It might be worth letting him roll, he's 20 and while he hasn't fully filled out his frame he looks strong enough to hold his own. Highlight videos only show so much but it looks like he's very active (works to get good positioning) and he's by no means stiff on the floor. Unlike some 7 footers he doesn't appear afraid to play his size. he needs time but he looks good for some rebounds garbage buckets if we need some depth. Lots of potential with his size, instincts and agility but I can see Dunlap keeping him on a short leash with some of the mistakes he was making.

Either Markunsson or Herman should red-shirt...could be beneficial to either of them. I believe Max Craig was the last 7 footer to be on the Lions roster.
