Saint Mary’s - Part II
Record: 19 – 3 WCC: 10 – 2
The Lions lost big time in our first meeting Jan 7 in Gersten – 73–48. This was despite Jacko’s 21 points on 9-11 shooting (3-3 FT) in 32 minutes with only 2 personal fouls. The Gaels must have played tough D as the next leading scorers for the Lions were Haney with 9 (3-10 shooting) and Brown with 7. We scored only 21 points in the first half of that contest. We shot 37%, the Gaels 48%; the Gaels were 14-19 from FT while the Lions 7-9.
This will be a difficult contest without a doubt. My hope is Jacko can shine again and continue his intelligent play on defense without fouling.
Gametime: Saturday, Feb 13, 8 pm in Moraga. TV: CSN-BA Video: none noted but may be preempted in LA due to TV contracts. Try TheW.tv just in case.

One thing about getting beaten so comprehensively the first time around; it will hard to be disappointed with tonight's result. Maybe we will have taken something away from Thursday's highly effective last 5 minutes. Hopefully Jacko will be OK to go.
Still looking for a "signature win" from this regime; looks like this will be the last opportunity this season. Could happen tonight though, theoretically, so: GO LIONS!!

We have 0 wins bs top 150 teams thus year, and I'm pretty sure there weren't any last year either. Tonight and Pepperdine are our last two chances unless we win a game in the WCC tourney.

I thought a spread of 18 sounded like a lot but indeed that is the line tonight. We did lose by 25 at home so not unreasonable from that perspective. If Spiers and Haney are hot tonight, we have a good chance to beat the spread - winning the game is another matter. On the other hand, if Jacko's back is still an issue, we can fold the tent now. Unless ....

By signature win I did not have this year's edition of Pepperdine in mind. I was thinking more in line with our win over Notre Dame at South Bend early in the second year of the previous regime and/or our win over Gonzaga later that same season; however, a win over St Mary's tonight will be signature enough for me.

The Notre Dame game was fun to watch but seeing 20th ranked UCLA get blown was amusing

Game will be a challenge w/o Jacko but a growth experience for others on the squad. Gaels shooting OK from 3 - our zone defense is hurting the Lions

Shooting OK from 3? There's 7 for 10 right now!! They're not missing. Why do teams rain 3s on us, someone pls tell me
