Santa Clara – Part II
Record: 9 - 17 WCC Record: 5 – 9
We beat these Rascals on Jan 16 on their home court 76-66. Since then, the Broncos beat Portland and San Diego but lost to USF, the Zags, USF (again), and, most recently, BYU.
Brownridge continues to lead the “team” with his 19.7 ppg average followed by Freshman guard Feagin with 11.2 ppg, the only other double digit scorers on the squad.
The Broncos are one win ahead of us in conference so this would be a nice victory.
My strategy for the game – guard Brownridge until his eyebrows sag. Otherwise, we have a competitive contest this Thursday at Gersten.
And lets see a healthy Jacko - our all-WCC player.
Gametime: Thursday, Feb 18, 7 pm, at Gersten. TV: TheW.tv (plus LMU Watch Live)
Go Lions!

Keep an eye on SCU point guard KJ Feagin. He visited LMU when Dunlap was recruiting his high school teammate Jordan Dallas. I believe LMU never ended up offering him. He is the bronco second leading scorer... lions could use him right now.
Does anyone have any Intel on Jacko's injury?

May be a coaching duel. Assuming Jacko is healthy, each team will deploy their one and only blue chip player and somewhat erratic support casts. Our previous victory against them was a good win and apparently reflected an overall match up in our favor. I haven't said this often but I think our guy can out coach Keating tomorrow if it comes down to that.
Coach Keating has a career trajectory that reminds me of San Diego's previous coach Grier. Keating replaced a long time and successful coach in a stated attempt to transform the Bronco's into another UCLA where Keating had been an assistant. In his 9 year tenure he has only 2 above .500 seasons and has never finished higher than 4th in the WCC. Naturally he keeps getting his contract extended and makes more $ than all but one other person (probably their President) at Santa Clara.

Also, last game vs Santa Clara Brown probably played his best game of the season, maybe going against them again will bring some of his confidence back and get him going again.

I think we could beat this spread. However, I have noticed that our lions seem to do better on the road. Only one WCC win here which is also our only home win this calendar year. Hope some students deign to show up and make some noise and enhance the home court advantage.

Official spread is down to 3 points. For what it's worth, all players on WCC Pick'em who bet on the LMU game picked the Lions to win. Also for what it's worth, it's been an unusually disastrous season for the Pick'em players - only two players in the black.
Go Lions!

With Jacko sitting out I don't think we are the favorites anymore.

Bummer! Is Jacko out?
But a growth opportunity for our other guys - ala Blake Griffin (optimist's view).

No video either here. I'll try Santa Clara's site. TheW is a bust. Found it on Santa Clara's site.
