Ball movement disappeared in the second half, I'd say we played down to USDs level even though our level isn't too much higher than theirs. Also, Lamont smith might be my favorite coach in the conference, if he can recruit some talent he will make the most of it. It was only 10 years ago Saint Mary's was a 2-27 team with no history of being good, if LMU isn't the team to turn things around il be rooting for USD.

I'm aslo a big fan of the new usd coach. I think he is going to get it turned around. Springman on his staff was named one is the best recruiters by ESPN.

A win is a win, I guess, but the end will predictably come tomorrow night with that reversion of horrible guard play, stagnant offense and no ball movement (Don't care what the box score says either). You cannot have your point guard dominating and dribbling the air out of the ball to that degree and beat good teams. It is not going to happen. I know we do not have Jacko, but Brown, as he has done all year, is trying to do way too much and often taking horrible shots deep in the shot clock and often literally just throwing the ball up looking for a bail out call, so he can get to the line. 2:5 assist to TO ratio defines bad point guard play. I know he has been good this year, and do not want to beat up on him, but it does not seem he is getting instructed, guided, disciplined, whatever you want to call it, for categorically horrible decision making. Tutu same to a lesser extent because he's on a shorter leash. Tonight absolutely no ball movement and as I have noted RARELY a clean look for our shooters, or any back door cutters. Just as tonight, when Mornar, Haney and Humphries get good ball rotating looks and catch in rhythm, they really have shot well. That game tonight was very hard to watch. Defensively LOVE McClendon and LOVE Brown too. It just seems Brown has not been taught how to play the PG position and be effective without absolute flow killing ball dominance. To play that many minutes and wind up with 2 assists says it all. Good luck tomorrow Lions. Play that way tomorrow and it will be a 30 point loss. I know I am usually the half glass full poster, but that was painful. Hope they watch some film.

I thought the first half brown picked his spots well, the last 10 minutes of the game he was 100% trying to do too much. Our only chance tomorrow is if Saint Mary's has an off night and spiers, humpherirs, mornar, and Haney shoot well so Brown can get 10 assists. Johnson also tried to do too much on offense as well in the post, but I'd rather have that than guys who are afraid of big games.

Among St. Mary's, Gonzags and BYU I do think St. Mary's is our best match up.
We are much quicker on the perimeter and our only chance is to be completely disruptive and force them into uncharacteristic turnovers.
And yes, we need to be red-hot from three point range.
I do give us a punchers chance to beat St. Mary's. If we can force turnovers in the open court and get some fast-break points, and have good ball movement and hit our open three-pointers, then St. Mary's might start feeling the pressure.
Our +/- when Brown, Tutu and McClendon are all on the court together has to be tremendously to our advantage.
Go Lions!
