Looks like Roberts had a ton of D1 offers out of high school and spent time at Texas Tech and Missouri but has three years eligibility left.

At this point, I don't think it's important who we recruit as much as it is HOW we use our recruits. Dunlap has completely mismanaged his players. Our "stars" are Batemon and Mattias. Although I think Batemon would be a stud wherever he went, I don't feel that way about Mattias.
Mattias' stats are decent because of his usage rate not because hes a true contributor. For being the size that he is and the role he supposedly plays for our team, he is a very big offensive liability at times throughout a game. COME ON TEAM!!!1 arghhhh

nbd - you don't give Mattias enough credit - lots of guys his size have hands like ham hocks and foul out of games quickly. I wish Mattias could handle the lob/dunk but often he seems not to know the ball was meant for him. Alas!

Maybe I just don't understand the comment "Mattias' stats are decent because of his usage rate, not because he's a true contributor". Are you implying he only scores at that rate because he shoots a lot? He is averaging 11.1 points/game while shooting 61%. He also averages 7.2 rebounds/game, which is 6th in the conference. Since he shoots at 61%, I would think you would want him shooting more frequently. And the only way you get decent rebounding stats is to get rebounds. No coach designates who should get the next rebound. Also, having watched Mattias for three years, I don't see how anybody can deny that he has improved tremendously. As for any player, that improvement is a result of hard work, but you also have to give major credit to the coaching staff.

Don't try to make sense to NBD, he clearly has made up his mind on certain topics and can't be reasoned with. Mattias' improvement over his 2+ years at LMU has been astronomical. Is he a perfect Center? No. Could he use a little more aggression at times? Yes. But he's an efficient scorer, an interior presence on defense (did you watch tonight's game?), doesn't get into foul trouble and hits free throws better than Eli. Mattias has clearly made so many strides in his overall game that knocking him just shows your bias NBD. I'm excited to see how he finishes his LMU career.

Thanks lmu2008. I will remember your words of wisdom the next time I contemplate responding to nonsense.

Thanks lmu2008. I will remember your words of wisdom the next time I contemplate responding to nonsense. thanks guys, really invigorating discussion here. its lukewarm, non basketball minded fans like you that allow for us to continue to have this tradition of mediocrity here at our university. The discussion was done when senior dropped statatisrical facts that trumped your opinion of Mattias. How many orher centers not on Gonzaga and in the WCC would you rather have nbd? To your point about us fans who contribute to mediocre bball at lmu - Let’s talk about that. I believe there are only two ways for alumni to have an impact on a program. First, making their voices heard at home and away games. Second is donating time/money to the program. Going back and forth on this board with our comments has no affect on the “tradition of mediocrity” you mention. We have been mediocre or bad for a while, but it’s not because of banter here.

Both Gach – Looks like a clone of Buoy Tauch, who knows him (from his tweets). Top unsigned player from Arizona. Could be a likely signing. Remember this young man - 2018 recruit who went to Utah? He just filed for early entry in the NBA draft after his sophomore season.
