i think everyone keeps saying "relax we're 11-2" but I think its important to understand that records aren't necessaril an accurate representation of a teams skill or ability. Take away the Bethesda game and we are 10-2. If our game against CCSU and Boise State dont go in our favor (due to other variable because they were such close games) we are 8-4. We need to make sure we understand the level of competition we are playing against. USF will destroy us if we play like we did against Riverside. how can dunlap a 5th year coach be so rash, indecisive, and completely lost a from a coaching and personnel perspective? Its actually quite sad. Look at how Quintana has been given the green light over the past couple games. Imagine if somebody like Cam was given the greenlight. I think Cam is a WAY more talnetedd player that Quintana is ANY day of the week. Dunlap just likes players who follow him blindly and will listen to him like a child does his parents. He does not care about putting the best product on the floor. rant over. happy holidays everybody NBD I don’t know if you were around for the 3 and 5 win seasons, but this season to date has easily been the most fun for us fans who have suffered a LOT over the years. I understand if you don’t agree with all of Dunlap’s decisions, but to make that Cam/Quintana child reference speculation is insulting. Are you at the practices? Where is your concrete evidence? JQ is a team player who can shoot 3’s and is willing to put his body on the line for the team. There are undeniable year over year positives like the fact Z can now shoot 3s, Mattias has more offensive skill than in previous years, JB5 is putting up 1st team all-wcc stats etc... But that doesn’t matter to you because maybe you’re simply a Grinch! Merry Christmas Lions!

Cam Allen was a 2 star Juco kid with little to no other D1 offers and if he leaves LMU will almost certainly end up at a DII, which may be best for him so he can have type of ball dominance he was never going to get at LMU, or for that matter, any other D1 school period. Let's not get carried away. Let's also not say that Quintana was better than Allen, that is a ridiculous statement. If Allen bounced it was because he wanted to play a way that Dunlap didn't want him to and one thing we know about Dunlap is NOBODY is going to win that war. I watched enough games, saw the body language and frustration. I have been VERY complimentary of Allen and stated he is easily the second most talented guard in the program, in fact perhaps even All Conference material, but the reality is he has/had no leverage AT ALL. Don't think at this level of basketball leverage is not an issue when it comes to playing time, green light and freedom of expression. When kids transfer in, they got you. Some may know what that means. Best of luck if he left and hopefully he can find a home where he can express his game to his, and clearly others, satisfaction and more importantly get that paper. Good luck......Also, team is 11-2...everyone chill and be happy. I’ll have to disagree with the statement about Allen not being able to be ball dominance at a D1 program. I’ve done my research and Allen has 5 offers on verbal commits out of high school. He was also first team all conference as a freshman in one of best juco conferences in country. LMU actually had to get him over 10+ other D1 program that offered him out of Juco. There’s a good chance of him going back D1

Batemon and Allen arrived at LMU simultaneously, with Batemon being one season older. Brown had graduated and we needed a point guard. Batemon won the job.
If Allen stays, great. If not, I wish him all the best.

bdwillie - you are crazy. I love the kid, but LMU did not "get Allen over 10 + other D1 programs that offered him out of JUCO.", where do people get this stuff from....I don't even know if he is gone or not, but I will bet you a free Lion beer he will not land at another one of the 10 D1 schools you claim offered him. Don't get me wrong, I like the kid's ability a lot, and believe he has been woefully underutilized and killed at LMU, but there is not a good chance he is "going back D1", not that he is not good enough, but clearly handwriting is on the wall here.
I also couldn't agree more about the deception of 11-2, but time will tell.....I also do not agree with the above post at all. Neither Batemon, nor Allen, are midget guards like Brandon Brown was and there is/was no real good reason the two could not have played together in the backcourt and shared ball handling responsibility. Actually Batemon off the ball would be A GOOD thing. I also do not like the constant, incessant "create your own shot" non-sense argument, which is just another way to justify the same ball dominance that ruined Allen's career....to date....
Allen and Batemon both are skilled enough to get shots with less dribbling and more ball movement and "creating your own shot" does not mean you have to beat the ball into the ground while everyone else is standing around and the shot clock is running out. I have seen that more times in the past few years than I care to remember. In fact what I like most about Allen and Batemon is the opposite of the "creat your own shot" argument. They both have a nice low handle and quick release and when they are on the floor together, the other team actually has to guard two players.

I don’t think you understand how respected the Florida Panhandle juco Conference is. Making first team all-Conference in that league (especially as a freshman) is bigtime. Every kid on that all conference team had plenty of schools to choose from and so did Allen. He must’ve got infatuated with Los Angeles and obviously chose the wrong one.

Reality check time for those on this post who are popping off at the mouth and THINK they know Cam Allen's background. Has anyone in the LMU blog or basketball community ever asked him ANYTHING, talked to or interviwed him about his basketball resume??? First,he WAS well recruited with over TEN (10) D1 offers out of the Panhandle JUCO conference...were he was 1st team All-Conference as a freshman and led ALL freshmen in scoring. JUCO recruiting offers are often not posted publicly. It's done through direct communication and offering!Likewise, Allen had FIVE (5) DI offers BEFORE opting for JUCO.He played on the Adidas curcuit on a #1 nationally ranked team with 8 HIGH major teammates, including TWO, one and done, first round lottery picks. Before JUCO, he posted 10+ 30pt games in prep school including a 46pt game w/ 10 made 3's against a JUCO! During his recruitment, his ROLE was defined as "other" than what it has become...to put it diplomatically. Also, the young man was in the National Honor Society in high school, taking AP classes such as PHYSICS and is currently an LMU Deans List student with a 3.7 GPA. Yes...he takes his academics seriously and is from a family of coaches and educators. In fact, the LMU staff themselves noted one of Allen's professors recently proclaimed he wrote a paper that was the "best" they've read during their tenure at LMU!The LMU faithful that make irresponsible posts out of IGNORANCE should first do your homework...like me! You people GOSSIP and spread conjecture out of ignorance about these players. Always talk to reliable sources or the source itself before you pop off about things you know nothing of. Talk to the players...go to the practices...build relationships with the coaches and inside people...that's what I do!

rswan - bdwillie is NOT the CRAZY one...you are! Allen is a well sought after commodity OUTSIDE of this LMU basketball community! Within 48 hrs of his announced transfer intentions...he's ALREADY received D-1 offers, visits and options (BTW, he's NEVER been evaluated or recruited by a D-2 program). He even has HIGH majors in touch...FACTS! I spoke directly to the source...again. He can transfer immediately if he chooses. In fact, his transfer recruitment (ALL D-1) looks to be higher than his previous recruitment. He says he wants to go to a situation that allows him to create and play his style and pace. OTHER programs desire this. They saw his highlight video, checked references and VALUE his skill set. I'm happy for this young man who has been disrespected and regarded as some undervalued "reserve" kid by a basketball community that knew NOTHING about his resume and value OUTSIDE of this program! He does have current contacts from programs with locations from across the country! I'm just glad the kid never lost his confidence and never allowed others to determine his self worth. Allen noted he really bonded with his teammates and enjoyed all aspects of the university and is leaving on positive terms. He was also awarded a medical redshirt and will have two years of eligibility, which he says will allow him to graduate and work on a masters degree in his final season. Wishing him the best!

Heard hes getting recruited by the Southland, Southern, and NEC conferences. Seems like a lateral move at best but I hope he gets a good opportunity.

Allen needs to play in an up-temp run and gun system. He is definitely a very talented one on one player, but in CMDs offense and the tempo LMU plays, it just is not a system fit and he will never reach his potential here. Would not be surprised if he went to a lesser conference, such as the ones nbd mentioned, and goes on to play in an up tempo system and puts up 15ish ppg. Wish him the best.

I agree with 2015. Cam is a solid player who became the out man out when LMU's style shifted to a defense first, long possession grind it out team. If you look at the balance of our roster, only Douglas would seem to fit an up and down fast pace team. Our two best guys Markusson and Batemon excel in the half-court game due to size (M) and strength (B). When Dunlap recruited Allen, he might have had a more up tempo offense in mind. Seems to be a case that he wasn't a fit with the way the team and system evolved.
