Usf’s Campus is like a prison compared to LMU, no reason they should be having more success than us

The bubble has burst despite a nice second half effort

Somebody here said Batemon was the best player to play at LMU in 20 years. This is why so did were so flabbergasted by the crowning of Dunlap. He’s not even the best point guard. What an insult to Anthony Ireland. Ireland at least could affect the game in multiple ways. Defense, rebounding, playmaking. Without the ability to get buy defenders , Batemon has not been efffective. It started with UCLA creating the blueprint to control LMU. Put a body on him and don’t let him cruise to the basket and he’s taken out of the game. Unfortunately this team struggles to score because Dunlap continues to show poor offensive sets to get Batemon looks at the basket.

We need to set some screens for Batemon.

How many coaches play a starter for 2, 3, or 4 minutes and then sit him for the rest of the game time after time? How many coaches play a former starter 10 minutes where he gets 5 points and 2 boards (third best on the team) when they are desperate for some scoring punch? Who fails to use their best defensive guard and Senior leader effectively? Tough ones eh?}

To add on to the previous comment, here are some problems with the box score:
1. Douglas playing 18 minutes and not taking one shot. 2. Markusson playing 23 minutes and getting only one rebound. 3. Johansson playing 2 minutes (I am okay with him playing two minutes, not okay with him starting and then playing only two minutes)
Lets just say we have a lot to fix by Thursday, or it is going to be really ugly.

There is so much to say but nbd already said it most eloquently.

The only thing worse than the Lions' offensive (literally) effort was Randy Bennett's backyard barbecue outfit. I mean really? How can these D1 coaches get paid the type of money they get paid and represent their respective Universities the way they do. Dunlap goes for the golfing in Alaska look and Bennet literally looked like he was drunk and looking for more lighter fluid. Unreal.....
On another note, why did it get so quiet on here? Where are all the "you are just negative" people? Newsflash, if we were going to get a win against any of the usual Big 3 (Zags, BYU and St Marys) last night was it. St. Marys is not good this year, period. They lost Emmet Naar, Jock Londale and Calvin Hermanson....i.e. 3 starters and came into Gersten and smacked us with basically a 500 basketball team.
The announcer really was spot on in the critique of the Lions offense. Too much holding the ball, too much dribbling and lack of quick decision making. Either drive it, pass it or shoot it. It's not really that complicated, but what do I know.

When CMD took over the orogram he said things were so bad that he needed to dismantle everything and completely rebuild the program.
He certainly did an excellent job with that dismantling. Unfortunately he has yet to figure out how to do any of that rebuilding. Most of his players are Lower D1 caliber players. Those who do have the potential to amount to something are misused (Allen - no playing time, Douglas - a SF/SG who needs scoring opportunities gets zero shots in a big game, a 7’3” center setting screens at the top of the key so he’s miles from the low post position where he can do the most damage, SGs who get zero screens, etc, etc). There is virtually no viable pipeline to build for the future. The fan base is nearly non-existent. But it’s hard to blame the fans when the schedule is filled with Big West teams (lower half of that conference to boot). Frankly, it’s hard to find much positive about the program, yet the coach seems to think he’s on the right track. Yep. CMD has certainly implanted his mark on our program.

You know I've mentioned how embarrassing Dunlap looks as a coach with his refusal to wear a suit or at least something classy except for a workout jacket and some pants. Randy Bennett typically has a suit and tie. I haven't watched St. Mary's enough this year to notice if this was just a one night thing or a new style he's going for. But I totally noticed that he dressed down to his competition...literally. Typically coaches wear the relaxed look when they go to the Hawaiian or Bahamas tournaments in November. What kind of message does it send that Bennett may have chosen last night to dress in a relaxed look for a conference game at LMU?

Dunlaps instructions to dameane at practice the other day.
“Our offense is predicated on James penetrating and Mattias touching the ball for 75% of our offense, off the ball we must move only in coordinated off ball motion as on ball screens will be easily defended against. Dameane you are our decoy, I don’t want you shooting since that is not your game, you are an energy guy, athlete and need to work on getting more efficient. Until you get efficient we need you to help this team spread the floor”
Are you @$!#ing kidding me!?!? Dameane is our most talented guy on the team. Wouldn’t be surprised if he left and transferred elsewhere. Save this post and come back to me next season.

"predicated" - a word used by CMD about 100 times each practice. And Dameane didnt take a shot, so he followed directions well...

nbd - did you make that up or is it truly what happened?
I'm concerned that Zafir will leave unless he gets more time and respect.
