20-4 run By Zags to start the 2nd. 47-24 now. We may lose by 40 at this point. Dunlap is a tomato.

They covered for me, that much I can say. Two hundred bucks. Dunlap's got about 14 more games as the coach here. We shall see if our new AD can find a difference making coach.

Dunlap is a joke. He coaches to lose by less than 20. This is just pathetic. At least Max was entertaining on the sideline and could bring in talent.
Dunlap is a dweeb and can bring in zero talent. Wake me up when there is a coaching change.

If anyone says Lions kept it under 20 you should be ashamed of yourselves. Zags emptied the bench up 30, Perkins barely played in the second half. The talent disparity between those two teams was beyond startling. Any misunderstanding of this Lion team being what some were espousing early on was pretty much clarified tonight. That looked like a DII team playing against a good DI team, period. You can't even make a coaching assessment tonight because the talent is so disparate it would be futile.
It appeared to me Batemon quit. Not saying he is a "quitter", but it looked like he wanted to prove a point and decided he was not going to be aggressive offensively. Any idea why Eli was benched most of the 2nd half? And Markusson's deficiencies really were apparent tonight. He is flat out hard to watch. Douglas and Bell really were the only two players who competed and really most everyone else on the team looked to be what they really are, borderline DI basketball players. Sorry the for reality check, but this is what this team is. It is remarkable this team is 8 games above .500 -
Looking at the schedule, we could literally lost the next 5 conference games and be 1-9 heading into the Portland road game. I see maybe 3-4 more wins the rest of the regular season, putting this team at about 16-17 wins.

I predicted when everyone was having NCAA TOURNAMENT dreams back in early November, we would be lucky to finish 6th in conference. Now it is looking like 8th or worse.

IMO coaching change will not be predicated on W/L record, but instead on overall direction of program, morale and confidential player interviews. There seems to be lot of bad body language and kids who are at the stage of their careers where they cannot be happy about role, playing time and from what I hear grind. Look at kids like Z. Williams, Gipson, McClendon, Johannson, and Petr, how possibly could they feel good about where they are right now as far as development. A sign of a healthy environment is seeing kids DEVELOP and get BETTER, as they get older. None of the aforementioned have done anything in the last 1-3 years, but get worse. case in point;
Eli Scott - 2018 - 13ppg/7.3rebs 2019 - 7.6ppg/5.0rebs Mcclendon - 2018 - 4.2 2019 - 6.9 Z. Williams - 2018 - 6.5/3.5rebs 2019 - 5.8ppg/4.1rebs P.Herman - 2017 - 7.0/5rebs 2019 - 2.8ppg/2.3rebs D. Gipson - 2018 - 2.8 2019 - 1.2ppg E. Johannson - 2018 -3.0 2019 - 2.1ppg
That is very little, to arguably no, development and actual overall regression for upperclassmen, who put a lot effort into the program for the hopeful reward of seeing production increase as they get older and the clock ticks on their college basketball career. In the case of two former starters, Petr and Johannson, neither are even in the playing rotation anymore and you cannot tell me that either were replaced by real studs. Who replaced Petr? Bell? Douglas? Markusson? C'mon, none of them are physically as good as Petr, yet he NEVER PLAYS. Johansson, replaced by Quintana? Don't forget, Johannson has actually been a spot starter for the past 3 seasons and now barely plays and was supplanted last year by a 2 star Freshman.
These are types of issues that will cost a 16-17 win coach his job, not W/L record.

There aren’t many teams in America that would get a win in the Kennel. Shout out to the players for going in there and doing the best they could.

Dunlap is ruining any chance these kids have at making a living playing basketball. Kids don’t seem to be developing and if they are we can’t tell because they are on such short leashes. Even when the Lions were winning the only players that really shined were Batemon and Markusson. Dunlap’s terrible offensive system only allows for a limited amount of possessions leaving little room for anyone else to have any production. That grind it out defensive style of play doesn’t take you too far when you have no offense at all. LMU simply needs more players that can create shots and put the ball in the basket

Is there a coach on the staff who could take over the team tomorrow? Like Barstow is doing at UCLA.

I have said since the schedule came out that i would not get my hopes up about this team until a few games into league... i may have gotten my hopes up a little bit (although i always thought we were 6th best in league), but i thought we would be more competitive. It looks like we are headed for the bottom 3, i hope i am wrong and we turn it around but it just seems like every year, every team takes that next step going into conference play while we regress. Only to make a nice run the last 4ish games of conference play and finish the season a just a high enough note to provide some optimism for the next season.

This team is not a world beater but they can play better than they are under Dunlap’s control. It’s hard to watch how he treats the players.
