1-12 for 3. Never going to win in the WCC with no shooters

Excellent game for the Lions. Team all played well except free throws. Over two games vs the Zags, we kept the total margin the least of all WCC teams. Let’s beat the Cougars Saturday!

The fellas played hard. Zags are just too good and finished the game with huge buckets. We missed opportunities to hit big shots with ~5 mins to go to potentially pull off the upset... we just ran out of gas playing our high intensity D. Can’t be mad about the effort. On to BYU Saturday!

This is a zag fan, coming in only to say what a battle that was. Up to the last few minutes it was anybody's game. Because Markusson starting playing late (the announcer said he started when he was 15 yrs old) and he seems to be coordinated and athletic for a big man, I would expect his growth curve to only be about half way to what his eventual peak will be if he keeps playing. Anybody know his prospects after he graduates? Scott also seems to have tremendous potential; he made his own swath to the basket a couple of times in spite of big defenders. This was such a good game it is too bad one had to lose, I was sweating it right up to about a minute remaining. Except for losing to us in the Conference Tournament, if both teams make it there, I hope the best for the Lions for the rest of the season. After watching both games this year, I am genuinely perplexed at how your team took five losses. The strength of the Lions team I have seen this year tells me they will end the year much higher than 6th.

Tremendous effort - nobody played scared. To pull off any upset pretty much everything has to fall into place and unfortunately free throws and 3 pointers were off. Very exciting feel in Gersten.

Really appreciate the comments. Your team is unbelievable! Rooting for your guys to win the national championship.
Everyone knows how good Hachimura is, but Clarke is unreal. And your experience in big games showed down the stretch.
It was a very fun game to watch and really proud of the Lions. To your point, if we play with that intensity the rest of the season we should win most of our games.

I think almost everyone agrees that last night the team played remarkably well. I have a simple question: How much of last night's effort can we attribute to the large crowd, including an unusual number of enthusiastic students rooting for the Lions? It seems to me that getting students and South Bay residents to attend games ought to be an important focus of both the Athletic Department and Student Services leading up to the 2019/20 season. If we have an adequate replacement for James Bateman, we could have a very good team next year, at least good enough to compete for 2nd place in the WCC. But it's just difficult for any athlete to develop intensity when all he hears are the echoes of the cheers of a few hundred fans bouncing off the walls of Gersten.

Some nice press there - thanks for posting.
I’ve calmed down about Dunlap. I kept my powder (such as it is) dry believing Dunlap’s performance has improved and he will be back regardless of what anyone says after our record to date. Dunlap has finally come around about Petr - it’s just a shame we didn’t get to enjoy his talents for most of his final season.
Dunlap coaches better when he is sitting down, which I’ve observed for the recent games.
Hoping we get some good guards to augment our squad next season.

Kudos to the players for playing as well and as hard as they can. It was a great effort. I also have to give CMD credit. Probably his best game as coach. He had a good game plan and had the guys ready to execute it. If he would consistently coach like that, I might have a little more respect for his game.
The Zags obviously weren’t ready and I suspect they were very much surprised by the physicality of the game. They aren’t a particularly strong team and last night should have demonstrated to them what the March tournament has in store for them. Coach Few (rightfully) claims the WCC play doesn’t do enough to ensure his guys and properly prepare them for the rigors of March madness. Last night he got what he’s been asking for.
I was elated to see the strong fan support. Yes, SeniorLion. It makes a difference. A big difference! Also, the very competitive game combined with the large and loud crowd made a good show on tv. It’s too bad the East Coast was in bed by the time the game started.
For the life of me, I don’t understand why the school doesn’t do more to pack the stands. Instead of basically making it feel like they’re doing us a favor by letting us into Gersten, they should be rolling out all the stops to get fans into the pavilion.

our physicality cannot be understated, we beat them on the boards and genuinely looked like a stronger team. Markusson played big and Eli is an absolute bull. Obviously a home game vs Gonzaga should bring out the best in us (as far as effort and hustle), just too bad the outside shooting was off. Batemon was missing badly, but he was an animal inside the paint, so of the more physical drives I've seen all season.
