Crucial seeding game. Santa Clara is in 5th (7-7) LMU is in 6th (6-8), tied with San Diego (6-8) but with a better overall record Pepperdine is in 8th (6-9). We really want to avoid slipping into 7th or 8th, forcing us to play an extra WCC tournament game. Let's get this one.

Defense held SCU to 1 FG for the last 11min and out scored them 23-7. Ballsy performance.

The defense in the second half was suffocating. Congrats to the team, and all three seniors made big contributions.

Dameane Douglas MAKES PLAYS. He came up huge again and again during the 2nd half comeback. And of course, James Batemon played like it was senior night and it was his last home game and he wasn't going to lose --worth watching this one a second time.

A tremendous effort- to come back from 20 down without hitting a single three is remarkable. A fitting game for senior night, James and Jeffery set the tone for offensive and defensive efforts respectively.

Especially at the end of the game when some calls did not go our way, they played with confidence and did not let anything phase them. That being said, very impressed with Santa Clara as they are a team of all freshman and sophomore (they have one senior that contributes minor minutes). Very well coached team and should be a team to look out for and be "most improved" next season. For the sake of the WCC, i really hope Pepperdine, Santa Clara, and USF can all keep their coaches. I think all three of those teams can be at a competitive level (like USF this year) in a couple years if that happens.

Bronco’s Board is blaming the loss in their short bench and the absence of an inside man Martin. They were gassed by the second half per the board. The transfer of two experienced senior guards did not strengthen their roster but that one is on the coach. They didn’t like the refs either. Now they are worried they might give Portland their first WCC win!
