Did Randy Bennet pass Kyle Smyth and perhaps Mark Few tonight? He did a lot with the talent he had. What an upset over the Zags!

Verbal Commits shows Franking Porter will be transferring. Is this a clue about Porter's future as coach?

From CBS Sports, Mark Few on his offensive philosophy. www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/2019-ncaa-tournament-gonzagas-offense-vs-texas-techs-defense-gives-us-a-cant-miss-march-madness-matchup/"It first came from watching some of our older teams," Few explained when I asked about the lineage of his offensive philosophy. "I was a young assistant at Gonzaga, and we were pretty rigid, pretty tight, look at the bench a lot after a missed shot or a mistake. I always thought, 'If I ever become a head coach, I want my guys to play with a bunch of confidence and a bunch of freedom.' Just drill them down in practice so they know what to look for and what to expect and how to react, and once we get to the game, just let it rip. Those are the hardest teams to guard.”

easy for few to say when he has easily the best talent in the league. that philosophy was shown lacking in today's loss to texas tech. no offensive flow in the 2nd half as perkins over dribbled time and again while looking to 'let her rip'. that lack of offensive flow was evident during the wcc tournament final game to the tune of 47 points. when few was an assistant, gonzaga did not have the players or league dominance that they have now. his veiled criticism of his head coach is self serving. interesting that with 3 minutes to go and down 2, he called timeout to set up a shot...no 'let her rip' there. his designed play failed. maybe because he was forcing his players to execute rather than free flow against a team that not only defended but also had the talent to compete against gonzaga.

Yeah. Few is a real loser; he survives only because he is lucky enough to have talented players (20 straight years in NCAA playoffs). Just look this years record: he lost to St. Marys (not to mention Tennessee and North Carolina). Against Texas Tech he designed a play that didn't work! Imagine! Yes, Gonzaga will certainly be looking around for a coach; one who designs plays that always work because he teaches his players to execute. They need a self-effacing leader who is never self serving. They almost certainly will cast a lustful gaze at our coach. We need to immediately negotiate a long contract extension and a hefty raise for hootevers, er I mean CMD.

For what it's worth, NCAA Tourney finalists Virginia and Texas Tech are defense-first teams like our Lions. Can't argue with the results this year - theirs or ours. That said, boy do we need more outside shooting next year. Oh yeah, and a top tier point guard. Fingers crossed that that one of our JC point guard recruit targets come our way......... Or maybe there is another Damian Martin to be found in Australia. I am sure Dunlap has his feelers out big time in this regard.
