BYU's Jahshire Hardnett is transferring. He was the Cougars third leading scorer at just shy of 10 points a game. Interesting that he announces his intent to transfer prior to post season play. Also, Portland's Franklin Porter is transferring. Apparently, playing for dad wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Dad may not keep his job, hence the transfer?

Ohio and UNLV have both fired their coaches. I guess losing to LMU is a bad sign for coaches.

Russ Turner at UCI just finished up a 30 win season. Hes been dominating the Big West since he arrived. Who was it that told us LMU was in the market for Turner? Or was it that Turner wanted in, but they elected Dunlap? Don't think Turner would have gotten us past the big 3 yet, but we would be in the annual conversation for 4 and not be such a wimper in the WCC tourney. Each year that team gets better as the season goes on. I bet Turner jumps to the numerous Pac-12 jobs that will be available. Could see him at USC if they dump Enfield or Cal if Smith is having issues. Or the UNLV job opened up and the AD wants to get a basketball coaching junkie.

turner is a solid coach. his record speaks for itself. he didn’t apply for the lmu job. he did apply for stanford’s opening a few years ago. he had been an assistant there under montgomery. he didn’t even get an interview. blaming husak over fiction is b.s..

While i am sure you are correct, how many coaches "apply" for gigs? I would imagine if LMU wanted Turner, they could have offered him Dunlap money, which at the time was more than Turner was making at UCI (still might be) and could have gotten him? I liked Bill-- very good guy.

when dunlap was hired at lmu, his contract was around $500,000. at the time, turner was making $600,000 at uci. no doubt, husak wanted dunlap more than anyone else.

Dunlap's first-year total compensation was $628,560*. $180k more than Good's last year. LMU has made the investment into basketball with upgraded facilities, buy games and coaches salary. LMU can't be spending any less on basketball compared to other WCC schools. To me the return investment isn't quite adding up.
* - includes bonus and incentive compensation, other reportable compensation, deferred compensation, and non-taxable benefits.

again, dunlap made around $500,000 to coach lmu (base contract) at the time, turner was making $600,000 base contract. turner now makes around $700,000 in his base contract. with camps and bonuses, turner is paid over $1,000,000 a year.

huge blow to BYU and the conference, although i never thought he was that good of a coach, but he could definitely bring in talent.
