Well, we made all the effort plays, missed the motor skills plays down the stretch. Might indicate being a little too pumped up at the end. Time to get used to winning, fellas!

In my work life I deal with plenty of Zoobies. Nice to have something good to talk about with them

Always nice to knock off BYU.
Issanza’s defensive presence was massive.
Merkviladze was aggressive on offense.
Go Lions!

Great D by the Lions for most of the night. It was a real dog fight both ways in the half court sets. Nothing came easy. Alex was key in first half and Keli and Cam carried us in the second half. Those two willed us to victory. Big win. Let's hold serve against the Dons on Sat.

I’m taking credit since I put it in writing lol. But nice win, someone verify that this is the first win over a Big 3 opponent since Max Good… or did Dunlap get one over BYU?
BYU looked bad, but this was also not LMU’s best game either. The one thing I saw was that LMU looked like they were able to match BYU physically. Grabbing Issanza was big. Look , if he was a dunking, blocking machine that could spring up the floor and hit step back 3s, he wouldn’t have left Oklahoma. He is who he is, but for the WCC he gives us great size. That block towards the end was something we rarely have had.
Too bad we lost to Pacific.

This was a good, well fought win. Both teams played very hard in an even first half. They traded a lot of blows but neither team could gain an advantage. In the second half both teams seemed to have lost a little energy. Fortunately it was an even loss so it didn’t hurt the Lions. By the end, both teams were gassed, and it showed in the sloppiness and missed FTs.
Lions were really staggering late. Cam had little left in the tank. Leaupepe picked up his 4th foul. That had me worried but it seemed to wake him up because he then made 2 or 3 strong plays right in a row that sealed the Cougs’ fate.
It was an exciting game. There were a lot of BYU fans but they didn’t dominate. I thought their presence added to the excitement and made the game a great experience.
Refereeing wasn’t perfect but they generally let the guys play without letting them get out of control. I would’ve T’d #15 and given him a flagrant foul. Other than that, the refs pretty much did their job and didn’t take away from the game.
Dons almost beat the Zags tonight. Maybe they’ll have a let down Saturday. Pacific beat San Diego. That takes a little sting out of last Saturday’s loss.

Only other win I’ve ever seen against BYU in person besides tonight, I think I was 1-10 going in 😅. Lost my voice trying to out yell all the Mormon children in the crowd, but it was so worth it. Shoutout the entire team tonight. Well done on defense especially. I didn’t know if we’d ever see another win against BYU. Glad to see 19th year Hawes is finally gone too (sarcasm).

That's the energy we needed! I looked it up last night, we beat them on 2/1/2018. That would've been a Dunlap win.

Awesome win! Great Defense for a majority of the night. No letdowns Saturday please!
It seems like in previous seasons, we used to turn the ball over 20 times a game. Only 14 last night and some games this season we're around 10. We've improved at protecting the ball.

It seemed like we were trying to give it away at the end but BYU missed some shots and didn't capitalize on the opportunity. I thought Jalin had a great game as well (other than some missed FTs and one bad TO), but seemed to carry the energy on the defensive end. Definitely one of Issanza's better games, 100% showed his value as a rim protector despite the Refs best efforts to take that away from him. This might be the one and only time we play a BYU team that goes 2-13 from three so happy we took advantage of it and go the win.

Regarding the end of the game, BYU went to a zone defense late and it really gave us fits. I hope we’re working on that today because other teams may employ that against us more often.
Issanza didn’t play at all in the second half against Pacific. Glad the coaching staff realized that he needs to be on the court.
Go Lions!

Of the 10 teams currently in the Big 12 (where BYU is headed next year), Oklahoma has the worst KenPom ranking in the conference at #37... BYU is going to be in for a big wakeup call next year. Even with Houston, UCF, and Cincinnati all joining the conference I would expect to see BYU have a tough time avoiding last place in conference play.
