The last game of the season isn't just senior night. It is the last game to be played on the "Hank Gathers" floor. The floor will be torn up and replaced. We should get as many people as possible out to this game.

They are replacing the wood. So, yes - they could repaint it a new design if they wanted to. But, as far as I hear - everyone seems to like the design we have right now so I don't think it will be changed. Basically - just a new floor.

I wouldn't mind the generic baseline font being replaced with the logo font. Also wouldn't mind some color in the keys.

Color in the keys, isn't that a bit old school? I agree about the font on the baseline, sort of reminds me of the Flintstones now but not extremely important. I thought the floor was just redone, how often do these floors need replaced?

The floor was repainted only repainted a few years back.
The floor is being completely replaced, and a new one is being installed as soon as the season ends. Meaning, that the St. Mary's game is the LAST game on "Hanks Court".

This is the first time they have replaced the entire floor since they built the joint.
As far as I understand, when they repainted 2 years ago they only did the center court. The side practice courts didn't get touched because the wood was getting so thin.

If I remember correctly, the main purpose of repainting the floor in the first place was to reorient it since they moved the TV cameras to the west side of the arena. Then, for whatever reason they shifted the team benches back to where they were before the switch.
Anyone know why that happened?

They are going to be auctioning off floor pieces next year. I would love to get myself a piece. The players were moved to the opposite side in order to prevent students from being able to yell nasty things at players on the bench and at the parents/boosters who have to sit directly behind the visiting bench.

The funny thing is that now the opposing team sits next to the young alums who probably have even nastier things to say.

I think it would be cool if they painted a giant Lion in the middle of the floor!! The only reason its the LMU is for the camera, but I thought abou that and Florida has a giant Gator in the middle of their floor. I don't know what do you all think?

Though, correct me if I'm wrong, but they are moving the young alums to sit behind our bench next year....at least that's what I thought I was told. 'Course, that's a shame. Defeats the whole purpose of the young alumni section anyway....can't have them yelling nasty things into the ears of our players...
