Chris Farr, former, USF assistant was seen by several fans with the coaching staff in Vegas. From his bio he worked basketball camps in South Africa where he probably knows Scholl from. If he is indeed the new assistant I think its a good fit. He seems to be a good recruiter. www.usfdons.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/farr_chris00.html

Anyone else see the irony that our former assistant, Calvin Byrd, is now at USF and we might be taking one of their former assistants?
Welcome aboard Chris (if you are indeed aboard!)

Interesting. Chris Farr is now gone from the USF website - that's for sure.

Welcome Coach Farr! I hope he is a great recruiter. Interesting history he has. I wonder what our international reach will be now without Bayno. Kalipende is an excellent pickup. If we can find more ballers like that we'll be in good shape.

Farr is a bit older than I expected so he has lots of experience coaching - about 20 years. He played in the late 80's so he is in his 40's. Does a lot of fitness training - which fits Good's style. Let's hope he adds to the confidence of our young players and can bring in a catch or two from his contacts.

Coach Levy is still there. I know he's very excited about things to come.
These kids are going to have to be ready for hell. Coach Good will really put them through the wringer with preseason conditioning.

I hope Coach Good does get them in good condition but let's not injure them for the season before it starts. Does anyone know how the injuries to Sutton and Diederichs occured last year - were the coaches working them too hard when they weren't in shape or encouraging rough play (ostensibly to get ready for the season) with the injuries resulting? Or was it just a fluke unlucky occurence? Was that Bayno's style?

It's the players' responsibility to work with the trainers and strength coaches all year long in order to be in the best shape when practice officially starts.
Coaches can only prod so much - dedication is the biggest part. Despite that, accidents happen and it is no one's fault. Witness Brandon and Tim. They were both buffed when they went down.
We'll have enough talent for '09-'10 that the coaches will have the luxury of sitting players who are not dedicated, and release them as the talent builds.

Thanks Oldestlion - sounds like you are in the know. I live in Westchester and used to see Knight jogging on our sidewalk in the mornings - hard to miss with his height and curly hair in the breeze. And I agree the players have to work in the off season to report ready for play when the preseason begins. Still doesn't explain why we lost two (at least one key) players last year in preseason. Just bad luck?

Does anyone know if Chris Farr is officially the third assistant? It would be good to know we have all the coaches in place for the upcoming summer recruiting wars.
