Nice article Mr. LMU Actually USF has a pretty decent set of recruits themselves - signed after the article was written - as shown below (only Blackwell was noted in the article). They are going big it looks like. Perris Blackwell C#50 6’7” 240 Etiwands HS (CA) Rating 85 Nikola Stojiljkovic PF #168 6’8” 210 INSEP Academy (EURO Rating 79 Tomas Bruha C#81 7’0” 225 Canarias Baskepball Academy (EUR) Rating 78 Michael Williams PG#187 6’0” 160 William Howard Taft HS (CA) Rating ?? Moustapha Diarra C 6’10” 235 Marseille France Transfer from Sheridan Collegy WY Not sure how tough the kids that come out of European programs will play in the WCC.

ZagsFan? What is the status on Bol Kong's visa?

Gonzaga has 5 seniors on the roster and Daye considering the NBAA and only two recruits - so at least 3 (or 4) scholarships available. The two fellows mentioned above - Kong and Harris - don't show up on ESPN Insider - what is the word on them?

Both will be on the team. Supposedly Kong's Visa issues have been solved and he will be with the team in the next couple months. He is supposed to be the real deal.
Even more highly touted is Elias Harris. He averaged over 20 points and 8 rebounds in Germany against competition similar to the WCC. He will come in as a freshman this year and will produce immediately.
Daye will be back. I assume he gets information from the pro scouts that he needs to work on his strength, become more assertive, become a better defender and a better leader. He will then come back and be a first rounder next year.
They have 5 recruits coming in this year. Bol Kong, Elias Harris, Kelly Olnyk, Sam Dower and Manny Arop. Three from Canada, one from Germany and one from Minnesota.

Its always hard to tell with international players. The last three Canadians that Zags have gotten haven't really worked out. Another issue with Kong is him following his Canadian coach to Idaho where he was given a job. I hope all these foreigners work out for the Zags. I follow all WCC closely and I kept seeing a number of talented US players that Zags were recruiting look elsewhere.

great article ironlions! When does the team get to start doing something together on the court? Is there anything like the Spring camp for college football that we are reading about in the papers today? Or does nothing, other than weights, happen until next October?

Most of the team will probably be around all summer knowing that they need to improve to get playing time next year. They have been having morning practices at the rec over the past month or so. During the summer the coaches cant do anything with the players but the players will have free use of the gym and can work on their own or together and will have some kind of open gym schedule. starting when school gets back in practice times are limited to like 2 hours a week or so and most of the time that will be positional work with the bigs and guards separate and then midnight madness will be the start of full practices.

Watching the summer pick up games are always fun. I hope Larry is here over the summer rehabbing his heel in the pool. I believe that is what Damo did and he was able to get back on the court relatively quickly.

Thanks for the info. Do the players have access to Gersten for practice or do they workout in Burns Rec? Or some of both?

The players ofcourse have access to Burns Rec as they are students. However, summer games tend to be in Gersten. Might be a little different this year as they are still installing the new floor.
