WCC commish retires, league signs obscure TV deal

For those that have DirecTV (and those that are considering to buy satellite TV) and want it to carry America Channel (to see your Lions, WCC, and other NCAA basketball games), I suggest that you submit a “comment” requesting it to carry the channel (www.directv.com/DTVAPP/customer/howToReachUs.jsp). There are over 19 NCAA conferences/170 universities (www.americachannel.us/ideas.php ) that are partnered with America Channel.

I have submitted a comment and they have responded (see below). The more comments that greater likelihood that DirecTV management will strike a deal to carry America Channel. Please submit and don't think it is a waste of time. I have done the same for many other channels that DirecTV did not carry initially. DirecTV management's listens to existing customer and possible customers.

Thanks for writing. As you know, we don't carry America Channel right now and we don’t currently have plans to add it to our lineup. However, we often add programming based on customer requests, and I have forwarded your request to DIRECTV management.

In addition, whenever we add channels to our lineup, we release a statement to the press, so keep an eye on the news to find out about the newest channels or visit our website at directv.com/pr.

I would like to see DirecTV carry America Channel (www.americachannel.us/ideas.php) as it is covering sports from over 19 NCAA conferences/170 universities. This would be a great addition to DirecTV's total choice package or regional sports networks. I am already hearing other cable companies are going to carry this channel as I do not want DirecTV subscribers to be left behind or leave to cable.


You have to throw in that last sentence as that is what drives DirecTV management (subscriber counts) and they don't want to lose anyone (existing customers or potential customers) to cable.

gaelbbfan, if you can post that to the SMC boards and any other WCC boards, please do. Thanks for your efforts. The more people that submit comments the greater likelihood that cable and DirecTV will pick up the channel. And if that is the case, these possible future recruits will have an outlet to display their talents on a national stage.

GO WCC! GO AMERICA CHANNEL! We need America Channel to be a success because the WCC is riding on it.
