Hey Lions fans... living up in Portland I've heard a bit of chatter about Bill Bayno (a Blazers assistant) and the LMU job. A few weeks ago there was a nice article written about him in the Portland Tribune and I thought it might be a good primer for some of you who might not know a ton about him: www.portlandtribune.com/sports/story.php?story_id=120484313921832200He's definitely gone through a lot, but I also know that Kevin Pritchard (the GM of the Blazers) has a very keen eye for talent and for coaches, and if Pritchard feels like Bayno is a valuable member of his staff (which he does) that's a pretty high compliment. And you can't argue with his pedigree in terms of coaches he's worked with - Larry Brown, John Calipari, Bill Self, and now Nate MacMillan. Anyway... my gut feeling tells me that if you don't get Montgomery, Bill Bayno would be a pretty darn good get.

Thanks for the interesting article upstonehouse, but let's keep Husak's eye on the prize....Monty. NO DISTRACTIONS for HUSAK. No being satisfied with second choices. Husak must get the first choice.

Husak hired Brothers Pump. Brotehrs Pump want Bayno. Unless a miracle happens, I think Bayno is the next head coach. Lets hope he can recruit kids like Shawn Marion and Lamar Odom, and not get caught with a duffle bag full of cash in the parking lot behind Bare Elegance. Hell. I'll take a WCC Championship and a NCAA Tourny bid for a couple years of probation. Lets face it, there is no money to support a sustained champion in Westchester as long as Husak is incharge.
We have had 2 years of greatness during the last 20 years. Here is to 2 years of greatness under Bayno during the next 20 years.
Bankman,

Bankman, My thoughts are if LMU and Husak are willing to give "at risk" individuals a second chance, NOLAN RICHARDSON should be on top of our list (behind Montgomery, of course).

With that being said though I don't think we all need to be so depressed. The man has had a little scandal around him and may have judgement issues because he coached a team named "Talk n Text Pals" or something but I don't think we need to begin a eulogy for the program. Bayno is not my first choice but he has had success as a D1 HC in a competitive conference and not a terribly bad resume. His time in the pros could help with recruiting. I worry about what a poster said about his x and o's. I think recruiting is a priority and he looks like a great recruiting guy but we also need someone who can really coach. A WCC school cannot just rely on 4-5 star phenoms we need to build some talent and give them good guidance. But i guess if he could get us some 4 star phenoms who am I to complain? Thanks for sharing the article upstonehouse.
