I was waiting to break this news, but Pepbander beat me too it. I'm sorry to see Coach Tention go. I think he is a good coach but recruiting might have been his down fall. I wish him the best.
Lionspride your dreams have come true.

I was shocked to hear about this. I know there was more dissatisfaction from a sub-300 RPI, 5-26, lions team than lionspride but does Husak really have a replacement plan? As much as I hate losing I do not want to see the coaching carousel constantly stopping at LMU. Will this be Husak's 4th hire? We have more issues to address than just HC. msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/7904566/Sources:-LMU's-Tention-out-after-5-26-year Credit where credit is due. At least LMU chose the decent (old-fashioned?) approach and waited until the season was OVER. Good luck to RT.

This is horrible news to say the least. 3 years isn't enough time.

Damn who's couch did we find that money in? It will be sad not to see Tention here. He was a good guy, animated on the bench, a WCC guy but .... 12-19.... 13-18.... 5-26 30-61 Not a good performance evaluation grade

I agree. It is sad because Tention was a pleseant man but as a team we were either spinning our wheels or going South under Rodney. If we are serious about being #1 or #2 in the league we got to play with the big boys, recruit with the big boys, and beat some big boys. That just didn't happen much under Rodney and I do not see any evidence that it was going to change soon. We were headed for a comfy .500 by year 5 imo. Would that have sent fans flocking to Gersten? Is that the sort of ressurection we lions fans were waiting for? I think the nail in the coffin was losing to Portland last year in the finals. Since then the grave blew wide open.
Good for Husak, Lawton all involved. Now I want to see a press release announcing that athletic building is breaking ground within the year and that our national coaching search has the money to muscle in someone solid.
This is not bad news.

I kind of saw it coming too. Look at the past two tournaments. A loss to Portland and then a loss to San Fran. It will be interesting to see who we get next. Look at the names that may be available, Sampson, Westhead, maybe Knight, although he did sign at ESPN. But we will see!

Why not fire Husak while we are at it? Didn't we agree this is more than just a head coach issue? Firing RT solves half of the puzzle, what about the other half? Are we letting Husak be a free man because he has apparently done what he has to do? Fire a coach? I could have done that at a much cheaper price. I say let's go after Husak. He has gone through as many coaches as he wishes, now it's his time to taste his own medicine.

Latimes from a few weeks ago:
"I really believe a way to go ahead and establish a solid program is not to make coaching changes drastically or frequently," Husak said. "I think Rodney Tention is a great fit for our institution and a good coach who will only get better and better, and we are prepared to grow with him."

Was the correct move in my opinion. Would be different if there were any sort of progress versus the regression we had been showing.
Time to make the correct choice now and right the ship.
