Good activity in OK. Looking forward to your story on Dontavious (already a contender for the all name team). I saw on the ESPN Recruiting LMU page that Austin Morgan from Coronado High is listed as "Considering". Apparently, he's being courted by the Ivy League because he's got a very high GPA. As a player, he has some nice attributes not the least of which is that he is an absolute deadly outside shooter. Do you have any idea if we are actively after him or were we just one of many schools that have kicked his tires?

Dontavious prepped at Manassas High School in Memphis, TN. The the same school that was featured on the excellent high school football documentary "Undefeated" which you can stream on Netflix. Well worth watching.

Purcell is a high major recruit. I doubt we can get him.
Better question is : what happens when the staff is gone? Are we still going to be able to recruit these guys?

Little story on Spears with stats: lmulionsroar.com/?p=2511I don't think we ever recruited Morgan. If the staff is gone- then we will lose Elijah (sure thing)Devin,Marquis maybe Kyron. My best guess is Evan,Gabe,Patson,Godwin,Deji,Chase maybe Money will all leave.

That's pretty much everyone Iron! I hope I'm wrong that is the risk of making a coaching change...we will be basically starting over- like the 5 coaches before Coach Good. In all coaching changes past a majority of the roster is lost, the only real exception was Aggers. I had a friend on the team and he told me that the players basically revolted against him so they were happy with a new coach. In the past our talent has been so poor that I didn't mind a complete root boot...this time around I see a lot of talent I would really hate to lose. I really don't think LMU will hire a big enough name to players/recruits to stay. (Look at our track record of hires) I already know for certain that schools are reaching out to Elijah.

Way too much to lose. Keep Max and staff. Our won-loss record suggests bottoming out, but that is not the case. Program has as much promise as it has in a very long time. We are on the cusp of great things. Take the long view Dr. Husak!

Does Oklahoma State JC have any bigs to join the two guards we're recruiting? Bring them all in.
These prospects are intriguing but I'm having a bit of a problem with the scholarship math - perhaps others currently on the team or injured are ready to move on and we have openings?
I like our talent on the team, especially the prospects, but it sure would help things if we could get another win or two to help the board's morale and the disappearing faith in the current coaching crew.
I hope Patson hangs around - we have tied up a scholarship for two years now on Patson, an investment that deserves some return.

Max is gone. I will bet most anything on that.
New coach will come in, get a group of JC recruits for next year and build for the future.

Thanks fryer - maybe there is hope to keep some of our current all-WCC players (Gabe and Evan should make the all-freshman team).
Otherwise (sadly I might add), I'm ready for some kind of change. I think Max deserves credit for upgrading the talent of our recruits but hasn't delivered on the bottom line.

We are on the cusp of great things. Take the long view Dr. Husak! This has been said regularly, ever year, since 2008 when Bayno first went MIA. 2009, 2010, 2011, and then I gave up in 2012. It grew old in 2013, and it's absolutely laughable at this point. I'm not going to go into this any further as it would do nothing to advance our program, especially in this thread (and I think the argument for Max died a tragic and brutal death this season).

To me the common sense thing to do would be keep Scholl and Abetemarco as recruiters and hire a strong new coach with one assistant he can bring in (with the understanding that he would have a talented core).
I have mentioned a name for head coach previously on this board (going back to January 2011), and that person is now available. I respect Max, also, and feel badly that we were decimated by injuries for two consecutive seasons. There is little doubt that we have a talented roster, but I think a new voice is needed.
As referenced by ironlion, when Aggers left Tention walked in with a veteran roster. He won immediately, and was a layup away from the tournament (still sends shivers down my spine to think of that play). Likewise, I think a new voice, with this roster and crop of recruits, could quickly climb the WCC standings next year.
That said, I hope we sweep this weekend and make a run in Vegas! Go Lions!

ironlion, nice story about Sears. lmulionsroar.com/?p=2511#more-2511With someone from our coaching staff in attendance on Monday night, Sears had 23 points and 16 rebounds, including 3 three-pointers, in his team's 79-73 victory. Obviously he made a great impression! On Twitter Sears retweeted that we offered him a scholarship. A few days earlier Lamar offered him. As for Purcell, he retweeted that we were in attendance at the game last night along with, gulp, Cincinnati, Alabama, and Gonzaga. Of course, that means those same schools watched Sears have a monster night (Purcell had 21 points in the game)! Purcell has scored as many as 40 in a game this year, Sears 34. Both are shooting in the 41-42 percent range for 3-pointers, with Purcell averaging 21 and Sears averaging 17. I hope Sears commits. Go Lions!

My god. That team that they are on puts up almost 1990 Lions numbers.
Go watch highlights on Purcell. Can you imagine those dunks in Gersten? Sign me up please. Just forget about him Cincinatti, Gonzaga and every other big name looking at him!
