Agree, 90045. Scholl helped bring an abundant of talented kids to LMU, who are also good, respectful, people.

Looks like Scholl is taking Alex Rifkind to Long Beach with him (per Alex's twitter). He has committed to the Beach.

Been hearing rumors Max might be headed to Findlay Prep, who recently had their coach step down.

He'll more than excel at that job. He has had this long of a coaching career because he teaches some of the fundamentals really really well. Overall I don't think he's a D1 headcoach, but he really does get his players to play hard and with grit. Those are so essential in a developing young player I think it's an ideal role for him.

Don't know how folks come to the conclusion that Max Good teaches fundamentals well. He does not. Maybe he used to but not anymore. He is an old man and a bad coach who should retire.

Thanks lmulond - appreciate your insights as usual from someone with inside visibility. Don't be a stranger on this board (if you can keep any interest up). Do you have an opinion about Coach Dunlap?

Lmulond - I agree that Max Good did not teach fundamentals. I actually think he had a few things he did either well or passably, but teaching fundamentals wasn't one of them.
I felt it was past time to bring in a new coach. However, what in the xxxx does "being old" have to do with teaching fundamentals??

I said, "some of the fundamentals." I'm no Max Good fan but let's not be outlandish. He did do some things well, he's been instrumental in some notable players careers, and he gets his teams to play with grit.

Do you have an opinion about Coach Dunlap? lions90045 - Once a lion, always a Lion. Re Coach Dunlap, unless you have stood next to the man, its hard to make an accurate call. His body of work does speak for itself and he's managed to do that at pretty much the highest level in basketball. He is not a lower level Div 2 coach who's lucked his way to Div 1; he's been at the Div 1 Level and higher for over a decade. With the fact that most people agree that a change was needed at LMU, Coach Dunlap (on paper at least) seems like a massive upgrade. We'll have to wait and see how it all pans out. Will he have the resources he's used to? Unlike big name basketball schools where the program was attractive to recruits, how effective will his recruiting be? Spare a thought for Coach Scholl who's now landed at Long Beach State. I do wish LMU had fired Coach Good 2 years prior and handed the reins to him. Gave him 2 years to prove himself; I'm reasonable certain he would have done much better than Max.

Thoughtful reply london. Several on the board suggested the Scholl move you mentioned more than once in the last few years, especially when our mood was in the dumps after one of our poor outings on the court. We'll never know but it might have worked out for Scholl and LMU.

Iron,
Have you seen Max while watching the NBA summer league? Has he taken a job with UNLV? Findlay Prep? Other?
Wish him well.
