One winning season record in ten years...achieved by Aggers after inheriting a program from Charles Bradley that was worse than where Tention left it. RPI 309. Close, but worse
Of all the names, I've seen, Holland and Dunlap are the best names.
I can't see Brad Holland taking this job which, truthfully, is a graveyard.
Dunlap ain't leaving the Nuggets and the money he's making for this gig, do you think?
Given how excited Husak was when he hired Tention, do you really think he can make this much better.
They haven't done an interview yet?
That means the UCLA assistant, who played robot ball with a team built to run at Fullerton, is the guy?
I am very worried about this search.

I agree that something is fishy (IF and ONLY IF the Los Angeles Times article is correct in that no interviews have been conducted). As such, i would assume that Daniels is on Husak's favorite list. If that is the case, I don't think this program will right the course with that hire. That does not "wow" anyone. That does not rock the WCC and the basketball community. That does not give you instant credibility on the recruiting trail.
I am holding on to the hope that LMU is finally drawing a stick in the sand (i.e., eating two years of Rodney's contract) and going to pony up BIG TIME to put athletics on the map again at LMU. Its programs within its Business, Education, Film schools are getting ranked or major acclaim. Their capital improvements for classrooms and dormitories rank second to none. The beauty of the campus is rank in the top 5. The only thing that has been neglected is the Athletic programs and some select Athletic facilities (e.g., GERSTEN PAVILION). It is time for LMU to make a statement.
Hiring another Pac-10 assistant coach is NOT MAKING A STATEMENT. Like I said before, Donny has been selling a Rolls Royce basketball program. It is quite easy to recruit top athletes with a Rolls. What happens with this assistant coach tries to pawn a Toyota Camry (like the one Husak drives) to a star recruit? I don't think Donny's recruiting abilities translate to LMU's environment. Donny's coaching experience is very suspect (below .500).
Lawton, Bove, and Husak better PONY UP. Otherwise the boosters will sock that cash away during this recession year. A big hire makes the donation spout pour. LET GO HUSAK. Be bold and make a statement. Don't give us this Pac-10 Assistant Coach syndrome again. We have already taking that medicine. It was ineffective. Please, Husak, make this a national search, not just west coast. Please!
I have to believe that Husak did the necessary "due diligence" before he let Rodney go and has "informally" talked with a candidate/his agent. If not, Husak's hand was either forced by Lawton or Bove OR Husak is just clueless and running this program down into the ground.
GO LIONS!

franksboy, who would want this job? A whole hell of a lot of coaches across the country would want it. If you think that our record in the past 10 years will scare off someone hungry to be a D1 HC in a competitive conference you do not know anything about ambition and success.
Holland already expressed interest so you are wrong already. Dunlap isn't making millions sitting on the bench for the Nuggets. We'll have names looking at us. I am not sold on Daniels I do not think Husak is either. He has been very specific is saying he wants someone with successful HC experience.

We will see if this job is the plum that you think it is. Aggers was making progress, although slower than Husak wanted. Now, the Lions program is back where it was when Bradley was canned.
I'm rather surprised that Husak didn't have something in his hip pocket, other than the Pump Brothers who of course may wind up in Husak's pocket.
