It should be a good hire. Although he will need to adjust to SCU's academic standards.

Interesting coaching hires. Sendak brings a very good college resume, better than anyone in the conference besides Few. Is that because he was at good programs? Why does he get fired even though he has 8 NCAA appearances? I consider Sendak kind of a retread coach. But its a name that you wouldn't think would be in the WCC. I read that Santa Clara is investing money into its basketball program. If he can recruit, they will be dangerous.
As far as Pacific, Stoudamire is a risky and fresh hire. Will he be Kerr or Walton, former Lute Olsen players turned good coaches? And if he is good, will just run to the NBA? Does he shake the Jailblazer image?
Kyle Smith is an interesting pick. Of course, he's a former St. Mary's assistant so he knows the WCC landscape. He is a good Xs and Os and I remember his squad here two years ago that beat us. Columbia just beat UC Irvine in the CIT final. He is at least as good as Walters.
Either way, the WCC programs seemed to head Mark Few's call to step up. Additionally, seems like they spent some money they all received from Gonzaga's Sweet 16 appearance. Too bad Gonzaga didn't make it to the Elite 8, that would have been $1 million bucks for LMU.
We have Dunlap who is not known as Xs and Os coach or is not a fresh hire. He's the retread but not even as good as Sendak. The only thing that Dunlap can do is outwork his coaching opponents. Yikes, this isn't looking good.

The last coaching vacancy has been filled. Terry Porter expected to be named head coach at Portland. Interesting hire...a lot of NBA experience but no college.

All in all I think open positions were filled by some very good candidates. Unlike LMU these schools hired head coaches in the proper way. Using committees and search firms and taking their time...not just a dunce and his clueless boss making the call.
"If I’m choosing coaches, I don’t need an athletic director. Dr. Husak has that expertise. Dr. Husak and I talked about two to three times a day. Athletics is a big operation. A lot of exposure, a lot of moving parts. I don’t think Dr. Husak and I have disagreed in his 16 years. We see the things the same way – big picture of playing by the rules, graduate your student athletes and win". _Dr. Lane Bove

Folks, opinions are one thing but incorrect facts are another.
SLB, No team in the WCC would have received $1MM from the Zags making the Elite 8. Jon Wilner's blog item from the Mercury News in late March showed how each "unit" or game latex by a conference member was worth $265K to the conference.
Next, everything I read about Dunlap prior to his hire, including his NBA hire, was that he was an X & 0 guru.
We can all have opinions but let's not make up stuff to support them.
