First I want to talk a little bit about the message board. I started this board only a couple months ago to give the Lions a presence online. I am an LMU MBA student and want to thank some of my classmates who became charter members to help fuel conversation.
I also want to thank all the other contributors, members, guests, and visitors to the Lions Den. In only a short yet tumultuous season so far this has became a great destination to talk LMU sports.
Now onto this bball season I like to call Westchester's Tower of Terror. I guess I could up with some roller-coaster analogy but that conjure up images of the lions starting off slow, reaching a peak, and then bottoming out in rocky fashion. Not really the case.
The season started out in hyped up goodness as the lions were pre-season favorites to unseat the bulldogs. LMU started off hot, handing a formidable mid-major Oral Roberts a jaw droppingly exciting 68-65 win. Who knew these thrillers would continue.
After a bitter loss down south the Lions came back again in an unforgettable Worthyesque comeback win over the athletic NMSU team. Worthy achieved near deity status and earned a well deserved #1 sport on SportCenter's countdown.
The lions also picked up some other great wins at the Great Alaska Shootout, against UCSB (even after the gauchos ragged me), and against Boise. Unbelievable fun to watch the home games, Worthy work his magic, and the cardiac inspired wins. But then the terror starts.
Much like Disneyland's Hollywood Tower of Terror, everything seems fun strapped into a fake elevator but then things go to hell as you plummet a few stories. Enter the heartbreaking injuries of Worthy. Only to be followed up with Knight getting injured in a buzzer beater game with LMU on the losing side for the first time this season.
Since then things have been bad. A thumping by zippers andNew Jersians, a real house of horrors. The good news is that the lions still have talent and Knight will make his way back. Better news, the Kwanzaa Kurse has hopefully been lifted. The bad news is obvious.
Conference predictions
I see the lions going 6-8 for wcc season. A big disappointment over early projections but still respectable. We will pick up duos with the Waves and Pilots and snag a home win against USF and SMC (or SDU) hopefully when Knight is back in the game.
Tournament run=
I want to hear what you all thought of this season so far and about the future.
Go Lions!
